I want to say Origin, but I'll readily admit that I dislike the idea mainly because it's inconvenient to me. I like Steam.

So I'll vote Blizzard, because where they lead others will follow, and I don't see it as being good for gaming in the long term. Also, screw their justifications this is purely a way to squeeze extra cash out of the playerbase.

I'm not sure I get the distinction between business move and dick move.

Gun to my head, I'll say MvC 3/U MvC3

Capcom has been trying really hard this year to be the biggest dicks, but I'll say EA won out. Blizzard with Diablo 3 are also really bad but that's just one thing. I'd have to give it to EA but Activision are still the bigger assholes in the long run.

I think online passes in general. Especially in regards to multiplayer.

Oh, and this so much. He cannot be allowed to get away with this. It should never have been so overlooked the first time it came out in 2003.

I'd say CCP charging ABSURD amounts of real money for aesthetic alterations to a player's bloody CHAT AVATAR.

The only option on the list that is actually a dick move is Capcom.
EA trying to fight Steam's tyranny is good.
Activision's COD subscription is harmless.
Ubisoft's always on DRM affected such a small portion of players that it didn't really make a difference. The affected are a very loud minority.
Online passes are fine.
I don't know enough about the auction house issue to make an informed opinion.

I must've missed the EA origin service controversy. What's the problem?
It isn't Steam. Yeah, we have a few "not-Steam"s already, but Origin is probably the biggest threat to Steam's quasi-monopoly on digital distribution.

I voted for Ubisoft's DRM.

You see, in every single one of the other options, the main focus is simply separating us from our money. These companies are businesses, and as such, they see us as paying customers.

Ubisoft, however, treats paying customers like thieving criminals.

With out a doubt Capcom. Canceling Megaman Legends 3 after that massive build up and integrating fan input in the development and then announcing MvC 3 right after.

I said the real money in-game Auction house for Diablo 3, well i guess there is always torchlight 2. My other option would have been Capcom. Also how is breaking a companies monopoly on P.C. game distribution wrong? so they don't want valve taking a cut out of the sales of there games whats the problem?

On a personal level, it would have to be the announcement of Brothers in Arms: Furious 4.
Fuck you, Randy Pitchford. Fuck you, Gearbox. Fuck you, Ubisoft. Way to shit all over the hopes of fans of the series. You've managed to replace what was respect with unadulterated loathing in just over three minutes. That's damn impressive, in a dickhead sort of way. I hope you're happy, dickheads.

I usually don't resort to such language, but I feel it addresses my dissatisfaction in the most adequate and direct way possible (plus I'm still mad about it).

In general though, it would probably be the "always online" DRM. If I bought a single player game for the PC, the last thing I want is to be punished if my roommate accidentally kicks out the modem chord.

People can CHOOSE that.

Well, the biggest "scandal" in my opinion is the Atari ET scandal, they just had to deprive us of such a great game!

while maybe not the worst move of 2011, it's certainly the one i'm most irritated with that i'm aware of, and that's the entirety of Diablo III. it could have been a great game.
