Everyone I know hates Brosnan for some reason, but he looks the most Bond to me.

connery managed to be so smooth that all of the ridiculous stuff felt completely awesome. brosnan tried something similar but just didn't have the same charm and as a result while most of his movies were good enough they felt quite B-movieish if that makes sense. also a large number of his villains felt like cartoon characters and while amusing they were hard to take seriously. one was a crazier version of steve jobs (BTW michael fassbender would be an excellent bond-villain) while another was a north korean SOF agent bedazzeled with diamonds

Brosnan for me. He was a perfect melting pot of all the best qualities of the Bonds that came before him. I can find something to like about all the Bonds, though Craig's blunt instrument is really difficult to empathise with.

Amen, brother. I'd also consider letting Martin Campbell direct full time. That guy knows modern Bond better than anyone.

Moore certainly isn't for everyone, but he's still more entertaining than Craig and Dalton combined. Dalton was alright to be fair- I just got sick of him looking utterly terrified of every tiny threat that came his way.

Connery or Dalton and chose Dalton because I want to be different. Dalton's two films had a lot of cool stuff in them that I remember fondly. Like that gasoline lighter.

I really can't pick a favorite. Most of them have brought something good to the table in their portrayal of Bond. Connery was definitely the best for the longest time, followed by Moore, but then Brosnan took the reins and just really had this debonair portrayal that was very believable. Craig totally shook up the formula, but also from what I understand more accurately represents the character of James Bond presented in the novels. I should really get around to reading some of those at some point just to compare.

So yeah, I have to put Connery, Brosnan and Craig around the same level, followed by Moore, then Dalton and Lazenby at the end (I haven't actually seen all of On Her Majesty's Secret Service, so I cannot accurately rate Lazenby, though I've often heard it described as the best Bond film with the worst Bond actor).

I actually just recently finished going through the "Bond 50" Blu-Ray set. I've had it for a while now, but just never got the chance to actually sit down and watch all of them.

So with all of the Bond movies, including the non-canon ones, in recent memory... I think my order for the official Bonds would be...

Connery > Brosnan > Dalton > Craig > Moore > Lazenby

I admit likely bias toward Connery and Brosnan. I grew up watching these movies with my dad, and Connery is his favorite. We watched "Goldfinger" a lot when I was little. So when someone says "James Bond," it's the image of Sean Connery that comes immediately to mind for me.

My bias toward Brosnan is because "Goldeneye" was the first Bond movie I could see in theaters (born in '88), and I played the hell out of all the Bond video games that used his likeness. I do think he's a legitimately great actor for the role, though. It just bites that he only really has one great movie out of the bunch. He was a great actor doing his best with a bunch of shitty screenplays.

Dalton and Craig were close, and which I like better is probably going to depend on the mood I'm in. They both play darker Bonds... but I think Dalton did a better job. Craig has gone on record as not wanting to make Bond movies anymore, and it kinda shows. He always seems somehow... out of place. I'd be curious to know to what extent he's half-assing it and phoning his performance in for a paycheck. I also don't particularly care for Craig's movies after "Casino Royale." I know it's the popular thing to hate on "Quantum of Solace," but I actually thought "Skyfall" and "Spectre" were almost equally as disappointing. I can see myself wanting to watch Dalton's movies again, but not so much with Craig.

I've never liked Roger Moore, nor his movies. He plays the part a lot more campy, like a parody. He lacks the charisma of the other actors, and he can't seem to fire a gun without flinching. His movies have the cringeworthy "J.W. Pepper" cameos and fucking slide whistle sound effects. SLIDE WHISTLE in a James Bond movie. Bah!

George Lazenby I don't really have an opinion of. He was a rookie to acting and was in way over his head. Maybe if he'd stuck with the role longer he would have fit in given time (assuming they stopped giving him shitty fourth-wall breaking lines), but it just wasn't meant to be. From the stuff I've seen and read about his experience filming OHMSS, it kinda fucked up his whole life for a while.

This movie is not considered part of Bond canon.

OT; I grew up with Moore, but I liked Brosnan better.
What even is Bond canon? I generaly assume each actor's movies are their own series.

To a degree. The primary license holder has stated that the movie is not part of the official Bond series. Before the last J.B movie was made, the rights to the name 'Specter' was held by someone else, who used it to make Never Say Never Again.

Brosnan is my Bond.
I'd say the reason is that GoldenEye was the first ?Bond movie I saw and he made an impression.
But still, even after all the movies I've seen, I still enjoy Pierce the most as double-ou-seven.

VOTE: Pierce Brosnan, for almost being hot enough to turn me gay.
This plus he voiced Bond in 007 Nightfire and Everything or Nothing. They used his likeness too.

Don't really care about the actors, I'm in it for the crazy gadgets, plot and some absurd villain.
I guess Connery wins the vote for his accent because the rest of the cast doesn't really have any distinguishing features, and I kind of dislike Craig only because the new movies are missing exactly what I liked about James Bond.
Without gadgets and crazy villains it's just some dude running around killing random people, which is "lame ass action movie 101".

That doesn't quite work. Lazenby was in the midst of Connery's run, so they can't really be different characters. Secondly, past movies have occassionally made shotouts to previous ones. GoldenEye makes reference to Bond's past female history and Judi Dench's M is stated to be new (i.e. a replacement for the previous M's), TWINE has Q retiring (not necessarily confirmation of shared continuity, but makes sense), Die Another Day spotlights gadgets, and from what I've heard, novelizations of the Bronsan films outright confirm the same continuity. It's only when we get to Casino Royale in the movie series that a new continuity has explicitly begun.
