I found a t-shirt on the web saying "the cake is a lie". my question to you is:

The joke is so old it needs a wheelchair.
I would probably feel like punching you if I saw you wearing it.

Imma go with yes, yes it is. But more importantly, who cares? Only other people of a similar ilk are likely to know what it means, so if you like it, what else matters?

Who cares if it is old or geeky? Portal rocks, I love companion cube, the cake is a lie, I still love it! =D

I'm going to go out on a limb here and assume that the phrase is part of some internet phenomenon and that the vast majority of people (i.e. me) would not understand it and assume it's just a random phrase.

If I saw someone wearing a very well known internet meme, I would instantly think, Really? Do you have to really wear a shirt about a meme from a video game you most likely didn't complete, this of course doesn't mean every one. But I would honestly wouldn't say geeky, but over done.

Do all of your base still belong to us?

Nothing ever dies on the internet, nor does it age.. It just gets annoying.

Questioning a confection's truthfulness is still quite young in comparison.

Go get a nice white shirt and the 8 bit tie from thinkgeek. Or you could get the t shirt from thinkgeek which has an ascii art of pi made out of the decimals of pi! ( i think they have one for the constant e you know from exponent and natural log but that's more nerdy than geeky )

Get it and keep it in a draw, in 10 yrs time it will be retro and thus fashionable.

More importantly get one of these: http://store.valvesoftware.com/productshowcase/productshowcase_HL2HeadCrabHat!.html

A real geek (i.e. ME!) will tell you that the cake itself is not a lie, it is the PROMISE of cake that is a lie...

Portal related humour (companion cube, the cake is a lie, party submission position, glados, I'm Alive etc.) has had it's 15 minutes of fame, at this point we should let the joke die and not speak of it again (we've heard all of them more than enough times and they're not getting any funnier with repetition).

If someone with the 'the cake is a lie' shirt tried to talk to me I would simply tell them to keep it to themself and keep walking.
