From what I've heard also, it hasn't sold very well, which just goes to show how "hardcore" gamers are completely unreliable whiny bastards.........how depressing...
To date, The Conduit has sold about 160,000 copies, and it was just released in the PAL regions yesterday. Third-party games on a Nintendo console tend to sell slowly but steadily, eventually reaching large numbers. Just because it doesn't sell a million units within 24 hours doesn't mean it's doomed to obscurity.
I thought it was released a while ago? Either way, MadWorld, Okami, No More Heroes, and others sold piss poorly on the Wii even though it was what the "hardcore" gamers wanted.
Bleh, I hate irony, it depresses me...
It was released on June 23, which means it's only been out for two-and-a-half weeks now. To put that in perspective, MadWorld only sold about 65,000 units in its first thirty days.
And again, third-party Wii games sales are usually slow but steady. It's not like 360/PS3 games, where they sell a large amount on the first few days and then drop off significantly. It takes a while, but they eventually reach very profitable sales. It's also worth noting that games don't need to sell as many copies on the Wii as they have to on other systems to break even. To date, House of the Dead: Overkill, which received little advertising, has sold about 360,000 units, enough for Sega to consider M-rated ventures on the Wii to be profitable. No More Heroes is at the 400,000 mark, and apparently, that's more than enough for Grasshopper Studios to get to work on the sequel. MadWorld has sold about 250,000 units, but to be fair, it probably would've sold as much no matter what system it was on. Same with Okami; it didn't sell well on the PS2, so it wasn't too hard to see it not selling well on the Wii. Most sales figures also don't account for rentals, which is pretty high among most of the games I listed.
In short, yes, the sales of games like The Conduit and MadWorld seem small in comparison to games like WiiFit, but they do sell well eventually.
