I'm against it.

I don't think any one in the world, especially the state or government, has any right to say someone should live or die.

Now, if someone decides they want to kill my parents, then yeah, I'm gonna go out and destroy everything they love and I would definetely want blood, but I still have no right to do that. (Not that thats gonna stop me, but whatever)

I think murderers who would normally be sentanced to death should just get life in prison or solitary confinment. That would be worse than death.

if you think about it you could use the blood/organs of muderurs/rapists to help people in hosbitle who need them so its like killing a bad person to help a nice person, which is fair

or if your bothered about the price put them in jail and just don't feed them

No.

There's no excuse for killing another person.

Not to mention that the legal systems in most countries have about a 20% false positive rate!
1. Yes there is. Self-Defence or the defence of another, your property or rights is as valid an excuse to kill anyone as there ever was. Tell me that you wouldn't kill me, if I was threatening the life of someone you loved. Or rather, don't. I'd rather not believe that sort of thing, nor believe I'd been lied to.

2. Statistics, please.

My view: For the killers of children, rapists, and murder during the commission of another crime, yes. But when some poor woman who's taken fifteen years of abuse finally snaps, then I'd say that a more lenient punishment is better. 15 years sounds reasonable. And 5-10 for manslaughter. And we need to institute the 'Castle' ruling, so to make it perfectly clear the law is there to protect law-abiding citizens, not dirtbags.

I'm for it in cases of cold blooded murder and above. If someone kills someone else I see nothing morally wrong with killing them. Especially not with a sterilized injection. They obviously think life is some thing that's expendable, why not? We're going to spend a shitload of money keeping them in prison anyways. Plus if we completely eliminate it we eliminate the FEAR of death, which for most, greatly outweighs the fear of imprisonment. Obviously there are determining factors, I don't think that it should be administered in cases like two drunk guys get in a fight at a bar and one ends up killing the other one, just for shit like, "some random guy stabs some other random guy to death because he looked at him funny"

I personally don't see how someone could be completely against it. Let's say hypothetically they arrest some sick fuck serial killer who broke into peoples houses, killed them, them skinned their babies alive and rolled them around in salt, lemon juice, and broken glass until they where almost dead, and then ate the babies alive from the feet up. Now let's say by the time they find this guy he's killed over 100 people. I have no clue how anyone thinks that guy should be kept alive... unless we're in favor of violating the 8th amendment.

For life sentences.

Tax payers pay for them to be in prison for a good 25 years, when tax payers money could be going on something more important. Like education and health care for example.

Prisons are over crowded anyways. If they're in there for life then you're taking their life away keeping them in there.

Sorry, just the way I feel.. My dads a prison officer and got caught up in riots a couple of years ago due to over crowding so I have strong feelings on it.

Whats the point of wasting money and time keeping someone in prison on a life sentence when it would be so much easier (and in a way, more humane) to execute the prisoner instead.

So, actually, you're for death sentences, right?
Life sentence usually means "life imprisonment" unless I'm totally mistaken.

Yeah I am, in cases of people being sentenced to life imprisonment.

I'm against death. Pretty much in any form.

I would agree that if being attacked you have a right to defend yourself, and if being attacked by someone who would kill you, that allows you to kill them if no other opportunity presents itself, but I refuse to believe that people are entirely beyond saving. Call me naive, I don't care.

Also, depends. In Britain a life sentence can mean fifteen years, less with good behaviour. There's also a difference with life sentences being consecutive or something else I can't remember the name for. Type one means they each follow one after the other, type two means they are considered as happening all at the same time. (It's complicated.)

While I'm not against it as such, the big problem for me is that once someone is dead thats it. If it is later proven they are innocent it looks really bad.

1. I don't think we as human have the right to choose who lives and who dies.

2. Its more expensive than life in prison

3. You can undo a life sentence if more evidence or testimony surfaces, can't exactly bring back the dead....

i believe imprisoning someone in the first place is the wrong way to go about it.

and killing is simply killing, regardless of who does it. stop killing people.

I've always been in favor of the death penalty, an eye for an eye has worked in the past, and it works today, and now that forensic science is even better at determining guilt or innocence, we have no motive to stop it.

Against. Look at Skeleon's post for my reasoning. I'm glad Australia no longer has the death penalty. I find it abhorrent. But that's just my opinion. I'm not going to bash anyone here.

My answer is yes. I have dark views of humanity, and when I saw sweeny todd, I realized an easier way to summerise it.
We all deserve to die. WE did something or will do something that will make someone think the world would be better without us. But we don't die. Have fun with life, I guess. There's nothing else to do.
