More content please!
I'd love to see both, maybe make them rival factions and have them fight.... oh wait a second... well maybe an idea that wasn't ruined by Twilight...

I'd still LOVE to see both of them, and maybe something new too.

I wanna be both! (I never say Underworld so...)
You technically could be both in Morrowind, but it was horrible.

During the day you can't go outside without extremely large amounts of restore health, or you die. During the night everyone tries to kill you. You can pretty much say goodbye to any sort of NPC conversation. (Unless you walk into a cave large enough that NPCs further in don't go hostile the moment you walk in as a werewolf)

I mean, it's kind of worth looking at from your perspective, but does it really matter in a perpetually first-person game what you look at? Every Bethesda game I've played I'd just go default and enjoy the game...
It does, but especially in Skyrim, because I hear they're going to make third person view much better. In the other Bethesa games third person was pretty terrible, especially in Fallout 3 where it was pretty much pointless to use it at all, but it seems that they are actually working to make playing the game mostly in third person viable in Skyrim.

wow wow WOW! ther were vamps in morrowind!
As I've already stated in one of my other posts, I'm aware of that, I only put Oblivion's vampires as an option because they're obviously much better in almost every way to the vampires in Morrowind, they just lack any vampire specific quests like Morrowind vampires had except of course for the cure quest. I would have put Morrowind vampires as an option if there were more than 8 slots for poll answers.

Uh... there were vampires in Morrowind.

OT: I'd rather they left both out and just let the modding community make a better version than they ever could. What was that Morrowind mod called that changed vampires so you could infect other people and have them join your undead army? I'm pretty sure you could also convince people to let you take blood from them, and there was a chance they would become addicted to giving blood if you did it to them enough. Great, now I feel like playing Morrowind again...
Vampire Embrace. One of the best mods ever.

With VE installed, being a vampire in Morrowind was infinitely superior to being a vampire in Oblivion. You could embrace any NPC and make them your vampire minion, or you could get them addicted to giving blood and make them your blood thrall. You could even embrace people through combat, and if you did they would resent you until you earned their trust over time, or allowed them to drain another NPC dry. You could have you vampires follow you around, tell them to meet you at other parts of the world, or bury them during the day.

Other mods such as Vampiric Hunger and Vampire Realism also added things like vampire hunters, a blood gauge that slowly emptied and required you to feed periodically, stakes that had to be used to fully kill vampires, and the addition of extra powers the longer you had been a vampire.

Thank you! I couldn't find it at all without knowing it's actual name.

OT: If you want to see what should really be done with the vampires in an Elder Scrolls game, check out this mod.

I think with vampires you should be able to feed on people who are awake via stealth kills and pinning people in combat then feeding on them. You should also have a choice of acting charming and charismatic to lure victims or being more animalistic and hunting victims down.

I voted for "Both, tweaked" because more possible curses means more possible sidequests and general gameplay options. And if Bethesda's going to include anything of the sort, they'll probably renew things somehow.

And if they want to include ADDITIONAL maladies, I'm all for that too. Come on - who DOESN'T want to play as a vampire / werewolf / werewolverine[small]*[/small] / werebear / wereboar / werehamster / wereWolverine[small]**[/small] / werepotato / werehuman[small]***[/small] - hybrid at least ONCE?

[small]*The animal, not the guy from X-men.
**The guy from X-men, not the animal.
***You know, for Orcs, Khajiit etc.[/small]

Vampires should definitely be in, but if they were left out it wouldn't be as egregious as lycanthropes being left out of Skyrim. Lycanthropy is meant to be very common in Skyrim, according to the lore.

I would definitely want werewolves and vampires to be available in Skyrim. That said, I want both of them to be very well designed and not rushed. I would NOT want the developers to try and put as much in the game as possible and just stick poorly animated werewolves and vampires in Skyrim; What they should so, if they are running out of time before 11.11.11, is to start work on a DLC that focuses on werewolves and/or vampires.

Bethesda has put emphasis on allowing the player to have the freedom of doing whatever they want, and importantly having the ability to do whatever other NPC's are able to do. So if NPC's are transforming themselves into lich's, i should also have the ability to transform my character into a lich. Of course the way my character is handled would change completely, but it would be a nice start on giving the player more options than ever before.

they certainly both need some tweaks; like a good reason to actually become one. so far the negatives far outway the positives. i think it should be vampires only, if only because transformation into a werewolf would screw with the mechanics of the game too much, and id rather they focus on the rest of the game than implement werewolves again. then again, i dont really remember the mechanics so well, other than murdering someone every so often, so maybe it could work.
