I hate pay to play because it guilt-trips you into playing when you don't want to and ultimately costs more in most cases, I hate F2P because the trappings of the model often interfere with the game to the point where even if money in't an issue they're harming the experience, so buy to play, please, not that I'm interested in a seemingly generic fantasy MMO.

Buy to play. The Secret World and GW2 are both doing well.

Though I'm not entirely sure I will play it anyway. Seems like Rift v2.0 with the Elder Scrolls logo and PvP tacked on.

The art style is creatively bankrupt and a departure from Elder Scrolls.

Rigid class system.

Typical MMO game play complete with tab targeting.

Though it's going to be tough to convince my 180+ player guild that this is not the game we want -.- sometimes I really hate mainstream gamer mentality.

Interesting because I feel that pay-to-play is lower "stress" than the other models. For $10-15 USD per month I can get as much or as little gaming as I want. All the other models require meta-gaming to try and get the best deal. If I think about all the games I'm not buying because I'm playing an MMO, I'm actually making money with a sub fee, after all its roughly 2 or 3 new games covers the sub fee of a game like WoW. Ever since I got into MMOs a few years ago, I went from buying double digit games a year to maybe 3 or 4.

Yes, but I only get 4 or 5 games a year as well and don't play any MMOs. Just because a game is expansive or good enough to last a long time doesn't justify the pricing model. Skyrim, Dark Souls, Monster Hunter Freedom Unite, Metal Gear Solid 4 and Armored Core for Answer have all lasted me months each, and I've gotten them for around 40 dollars for the console ones and 20 for MHFU. I much prefer giving a set amount and having forever to get value out of my games, or resell them if I end up not liking them, than the prospect of paying 15 dollars a month and paying vastly more in the end than on an expansive non-MMO or single purchase game, and essentially giving up the ability to play whenever I want or not play whenever I want.

Pay to Play is outdated and expensive as all hell. The only way to get your money's worth is to play the game obsessively.

Free to Play winds up breaking most games that use it, so that they become "Pay to Win" games instead.

Buy to Play makes the most sense.

Since its going to be on consoles, I'm guessing the only time you'll have to pay for ESO is when you buy it. I'm sure no console gamer would want to pay a monthly fee for any video game, especially since they have to pay for online multiplayer anyway.

I'm pretty sure it's already been said (at least for PC) that its Buy to play, its going to be released in stores etc. and once bought, the game is free for the buyer indefinitely, like the way Guild Wars works
As far as I know nothing regarding the payment model has been confirmed yet, if its a subscription based, I'm out (as previously stated)

In regards to Buy to Play or Free to Play,

Buy to play would be awesome sort of like guild wars 2,

free to play I guess would be alright assuming that they handled it correctly, a very difficult feat
Indeed, and sorry, my mistake, i often read rumor threads on several websites, and its hard to remember what is confirmed and what isn't :p

If i had to choose,i would definitely say B2P, B2P ensures the company can afford to make updates and changes to the game, and allow them to make the game free to play, keeping the players happy.

Totally agree with everything you said, I also swore I will never buy subscription based games no matter how good they are, so yeah
