As many of us know, the latest installment in the awesome Elder Scrolls series is soon to be released, this time though as an MMORPG.

The main setting is that it's one thousand years prior to the events of their previous game, Skyrim, and that there are three major factions vying for the throne of the Empire.

These factions are the Aldmeri Dominion (which consists of Altmer, Bosmer and Khajiit), the Daggerfall Covenant (containing Bretons, Redguards and Orcs), and finally the Ebonheart Pac (which has Nords, Argonians and Dunmer).

If you guys get this game and have to choose hwich of these three factions to join, which would it be, and why?

Daggerfall. Bretons are awesome at magic, Redguard are good all rounders and Orcs are great smiths and warriors.

Best faction.

Either Ebonheart or Aldmeri.

I always play a Khajiit first, so Aldmeri first I think. I REALLY want to see Elsweyr too.

Then the Ebonheart as a Dark Elf. Because their faction sounds the most interesting.

I would go with the Aldmeri dominion at this point, mainly just because they have the Bosmer.

Do we know what these factions really are? (Their stories, goals, moral standing etc.)

Probably Daggerfall and roll Breton.

There are no Dwarves so Human is my next choice, i'm boring like that.

Maybe i'll roll a Nord and go Ebonheart, not decided yet.

After Skyrim I'm not sure I could roll as Aldmeri XD

It's an obligation for me to kill every Thalmer I see. They're probably not quite the same, but whatever.

I'm split between the Ebonheart pact and the Dagger fall covenant because I always run with either a nord or Breton... ocasionally an Orc, but really only in Skyrim.

Am planning Daggerfall, but if I get into the beta I'll roll something else so I see another part of the game. I may get attached to Ebonheart, who knows?

Rolling a snobby Altmer (High Elf for you peasants) sounds like great fun. I do hope they have a classic Sorcerer class in the game, that sounds like great fun.

The classic TES Sorcerer using mainly heavy armor, lots of enchanted items and a large variety of magic (so no weapons).

I might go with the Aldmeri Dominion, I started really liking the Bosmer.
The queen also looks kinda cool.

But I like all the factions overall, so I want to try all of them out.

I loved TES games and was really looking forward to this one, but then I learned the races were faction-specific, and no way in hell am I allying myself with the damned Aldmeri just to play a Khajiit. Complete deal-breaker, so I suppose now my answer has to be "none."

...Goddammit, Zenimax.

But this is the first Aldmeri Dominion, you know-the one that had a competent leader and every right to attack the Empire. The one in Skyrim was second and it was demonized and blatantly fascist, it really did represent the High Elves as scum.

OT: Rolling with Aldmeri Dominion, if you haven't guessed already.

Why are there so few factions?

It's the frigging Elder Scrolls and there's three factions?

Why not ten or fifteen, sort it out in terms of the guild and organisations, nuts to picking one of three. If the various factions are race-locked (so not Altmer outside Dominion etc) that's going to be even worse...

So hows this game looking? Like TES with more players or like a WoW clone? I'm not trolling, I'm genuinely asking, I've heard very little about it.
From those two choices it's definitely firmly in the WoW clone part.

It's got some interesting and unique features, but it'll be following most MMO conventions.

If you hate World of Warcraft then you'll probably end up hating this game. If you basically like World of Warcraft but grew tired of it then this could be new and fresh enough to entertain you once more.

It's another MMO in the tradition of EverQuest, World of Warcraft, EQ II, Rift, Warhammer Online, The Old Republic and Guild Wars II. They've each got their unique things, some more so than others, but the basic framework is much the same.
