Tolkien is the master here. I am shocked anyone would think otherwise.
I mean, the man spent his whole damn life just creating a world that never existed.... A true legend.

I think the idea of elves and dwarfs differ from person to person, much in the way alot of people disagree over what is [http://www.draculas.info/_img/gallery/vampire_by_clyde_caldwell__13.jpg] and what is not [http://manolobig.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2008/12/twilight-movie-poster.jpg] a vampire. However, there can only be so many variants of something before it becomes something entirely different all together. Thus there is bound to be duplication some where, plus some people just aren't that creative, but like being successful at things.

But getting back to the question, I would have to say that I see more fantasy lining up like Tolkien's world model.

yeah and it helps with the ladies too...no it dosent

also I wanted to say that tolkien pretty much paved the way for D&D, a whole bunch of new fantasy games, and maybe had alittle influence on warhammer as well.
Without Tolkien, fantasy would not be what it is today.

Just call me "Hurr Durr Derp" or "Hurr" or "That guy" or whatever you want really. I don't mind. Especially since the retarded capitalisation was a typo anyway (had CAPS LOCK on during registration). :p

Eh. It's a nonsense name anyway, so I don't really mind if it looks even dumber than it was supposed to be.

At least I'm not stuck with some lame name with a number on the end.
          just kidding :p

Actually Terry Pratchett turns a lot of stereotypes around, maybe more games should look to the Discworld for inspiration.
As long as they get that inspiration from the Discworld BOOKS and not the Discworld GAMES.
