Lightside. I can live a life of quite contemplation and do some good. Beside I get a laser sword, mystic powers and some true companions, what more could you want?

Can't I choose the pragmatic side of the force? Have emotions and not do the evil shit?

Actually, there is no "Light Side". There is a Dark Side, and there's the Force. The Dark Side is an anomily, a fault in the Force; basically, it shouldn't exist. What we define as the Light Side is actually the Force as it is supposed to be.

Also, I'd still go for Light Side, because the Dark Side always gets screwed over.
It's (dark) also just a shortcut to power; one that never ends well, as the light persists with true power gained from enlightenment.

Does the darkside automatically turn you into a child murdering sadistic git that chokes people if they annoy you? If not I choose the darkside, if it does I don't want the force.

Screw becoming a monk.

Dark side. I like the freedom to do whatever I want. I wouldn't be some all corrupted guy though. I'd do what I WANT.

According to the lore of the Expanded Universe, theres not much difference between the two other than the moral used to define them. By the end of the New Jedi Order story arc, all Jedi were using abilities previously attributed to the dark side of the force. This includes Luke using force lightning on one occasion.

OT: Why choose? The powers are there, develop and use them as i need them.

Neither, both the Jedi and Sith teachings are incredibly flawed.

One side sacrifices their willingness and ability to act in the world in favor of personal peace. The other has all the personal power they could desire, but have little to no control over it or themselves, and are ultimately self destructive.

If given only those two options however, I choose Jedi. Not only is a lack of self control abhorrent to me, there are plenty of tricks I can think of to use the manipulation of the force for that would make shooting lightning seem like an amateur's parlor trick.

A halfway decent understanding of the laws of both physics and biology combined with the ability to make the former one's fickle little ***** can work wonders.

Neither. I had this kind of chat with a star wars loving friend of mine, and he classified me as a "rogue". Someone belonging to neither.

And to anyone who claims that you CAN'T be neither...That you HAVE to be either light or dark...Might I remind you that "only a sith deal in absolutes?".

I would still hold on to my passions and loves and dislikes. But I would not abuse these powers or consider myself above everyone else. I would definitely help the light side over the dark side (I mean, look at the crap the dark side guys keep pulling!), at least, I would if the jedi would accept my stance on life. Which they probably wouldn't, knowing them. >_>

Oh, and if you're telling me that I'm evil just because I happen to like flinging lightning from my hands.......Come on, really? That's just shallow.
this.

the only true path with the force is NOT picking light or dark

Yeah, there's the question of whether you'd rather be proficient with the Light Side or the Dark Side, the question of whether you agree with the general sentiments behind those sides, and the question of whether you'd be part of the Jedi Order or be one of the Sith. Personally, I'm not a big fan of following orders, and both the Jedi and the Sith seem VERY keen that you must do EXACTLY what they say and accept their justifications - I wouldn't do that. That said, I'd go with light side overall - the Sith have the advantage of being more efficient at killing and torturing people - I don't see a need for that, and if I did, I wouldn't mind having to get more creative.

Light side ≠ Jedi Order. The Jedi just believed that their interpretation of the Force was better than everyone else's (and they call the Sith arrogant). Their restrictions on new ideas, love, etc were a result of some big war with the Sith (don't remember which).

That said, don't use the Force while under the influence of passion, and you won't fall to Chaos, er, I mean the dark side.

EDIT:

The dark side wouldn't change you immediately, but if you give in to it just a bit, it would eventually corrupt you into something your past self would be horrified at.

I'd use both, and let my own morals decide my actions.

They actually do have people in Star Wars that do this, such as the Grey Jedi.

Jedi and Sith are both extremist idiots, and both have made HUGE mistakes.

Jedi: Kotor's Mandalorian War: Caused chaos that continued for hundreds of years, all because the Jedi Council decided it would try to stay away from the fighting. If they had actually supported the Republic, it's a good guess they would've been able to keep Revan from turning dark, or at least stopped him before he found the Star Forge.

Sith: Um, just about everything they've done, ever.

If I had to choose one or the other, probably Dark, but I'd try to change the Sith ways so that stabbing your comrades in the back was considered a bad move.

Both have issues. The light side breeds weakness and inaction while the dark side is geared too far towards the self-centered.

Given the chance, I'd lean towards Gray Jedi with maybe partially favoring the dark side.

Dark side powers are a crutch for their poor Lightsaber prowess.
Light Side all the way.
