Here are a list of things that will make like the series again;
-T-virus
-Horror and scares(RE5 wasn't a Horror it was a skid mark on the name of Survival Horror)
-No fuckin' Co-op partner(Poor Poor AI)
-No bright environments(The cave bit in RE5 was step in the right direction shame the rest is filled with a bright light)
-No censoring the deaths(Come on RE5 what's up with that)
-No checkpoints, save points(Where is the challenge if I spawn a few feet away, Boss one's ok)
-Open environments with lots of keys and puzzles
-More hard puzzles
-And finally no QTEs

On a off note, can Capcom bring the Remakes they did to Xbox and Ps3

I think the Resident Evil 3.5 project COULD work. (Resident Evil 3.5 is what you know as Resident Evil 4 now. 3.5 had a set camera & over the shoulder. It also had a few supernatural elements in it.)
I Remember back when I saw that in a tech Demo, it looked great. It was the same when RE2 before it came out(RE2 is still my favourite) you know RE5 sounded better in its early stage, it was to include open areas with a time cycle which would reflect the amount on enemies in a area, like one point it can be empty and next time you visit it would be fall of them. It was also going to have the screen adjust when you go from light to dark areas and most importantly NO CO-OP PARTNER!!.

I've been a long time fan of Resident Evil and Survival Horror in general(I realise they are no longer really survival horror and more action)

RE4 was the best single player experience in the franchise I think, though I did enjoy the Remake of RE1 on Gamecube, I still think the action gaming and more monstrous enemies were more interesting for gameplay.

It's hard to say what they could do with the next one, personally, I really loved going through Resident Evil 5 with a partner and just want more of that really, however, when I first played it I was by myself and it was frustrating, I dropped it fairly fast.

Overall, I'm happy in the direction it's going, I enjoy Co-Op RE and I like the Las Plagas/Uruboros stuff as it gives opportunities to produce more varied and large enemies, However, I think I may be in the minority here.

(If you dont like Resident Evil, Dont post.)

Reading the new Critical Miss made me wonder what my fellow Escapists want in a resident evil game. So I thought id throw together a little poll.
...
Guide to the poll:
Classic. Set Camera, T Virus. = Resident Evil 1, 2 , 3 , Veronica ETC ETC
Classic. Over Shoulder, T Virus. = Same atmosphere as above, just over the shoulder.
Classic. Set Camera, Las Plagas. = Same atmosphere as above, just with Las Plagas instead of T Virus.
Classic. Over Shoulder, Las Plagas. = Same atmosphere as above, just with over the shoulder.
New (Action). T Virus. = Basically Resident Evil 4 - 5 with the T Virus instead of Las Plagas.
New (Action). Las Plagas = Resident Evil 4 & 5
Gun Game (T Virus) = Resident Evil Survivor, Dead Aim, Various Arcade games.
Gun Game (Las Plagas) = Same as above, just with Las Plagas instead of T Virus.
NO NO NO This poll is all wrong. More Jill battle suit does not appear on the list.

RE4 is the model for a good game.

Not RE5. Almost everything done in RE5 was a step backward.

To put it comparatively while I genuinely regard RE4 as one of the best games not only on the Gamecube, but of the generation, I literally stopped playing RE5 after less than a half hour and I literally have not picked it up since.

Thank god it's my friend's copy.

I think CAPCOM would be on to a winner if they kept the camera and controls from RE 4/5 (minus the laser sight, I hate the laser sight, crosshair or targeting reticule is better suited) and used it in the Raccoon City-type setting.

There's no reason why the protagonist shouldn't be able to go into the fray well equipped (a main weapon and side arm) if they're part of a well funded trained, tactical force. Zombies in great masses (with Cerberus and Hunters thrown in to the chaos) would be awesome (having to pick them off with well placed lethal and crippling shots). And sure you go into the situation well equipped; but those two boxes of pistol ammo and the box of shotgun shells won't last forever. Ammunition should (and admittedly, this is where Resident Evil 4 let the series down) be scarce.

I'd frankly rather it die, but if they insist on making more for the love of god make it scary again!
I hated 4 and 5 because there was absolutely no tension, no fear, no feeling of being hunted, no chance of running out of ammo and without that all you're left with is a pretty piss poor story.

My biggest complaint is that not once during playing it did I think to my self ohfuckohfuckohfuck!
Not once did I catch myself thinking "Go on, the power button is right there, all you need to do is reach out and you'll be safe and in your home again, go on, no one will ever know, what are you trying to prove anyway?" THAT is the mark of a good survival horror game, the over whelming desire to turn it off and hide under the covers.

If there is another Rsident Evil game, the thing that I want more than anything else.................Are Actual Zombies!!!

The last few games have had some sad excuse for the walking dead and it's really outgrown the appeal.

Resident evil is a game about Zombies, not some towns people from Africa and what not with bugs jammed into their heads.

I want dead people walking around biting and eating other people so that they in turn will transform into walking dead people.

I want them to get back to the "zombie" aspect of the game. If they could do an amazing reboot like they did with RE4, but break away from the Las Plagas crud, it would be nice. It was an interesting twist for RE4, but that was all. A twist.

You know what, just reboot the game in total. Change the whole storyline, forget the wads of gummy strings they call Lore, and give me a hella Zombie game. Remove Umbrella, Wesker, ect, and just reboot.

Then it could become epic again. As is, is too heavy under its own bloated corpse to do much more than lay there and look non-appealing. Reminds me of prom, actually.

I was a big fan of RE, but after a while I stopped caring. As far as straight up FUN, I had the most with RE4. RE5 just felt like a half assed rehash. I think if the series is going to continue and be successful, they are going to have to come up with something completely new and inventive, like the jump from CV to RE4. I really don't think going back to the original game mechanics is going to work in this day and age, and I also don't think making another RE4 clone with different skins is going to be the answer.

As important as I'd like the story to be to the game (and it had a lot of potential for a deep rich story... mostly bungled with bad writing and dialogue), I don't think it will ever be a driving factor for the series (since it usually just gets made fun of). So, that said, I don't think T-virus or Plagas matter at all for the next installment. They could come up with something new and it wouldn't be a big deal. Case in point: I was originally angry that they abandoned the Umbrella/T Virus story for RE4, but then when I played it I was so blown away by the game itself that I didn't give a damn.

Oh, and definitely a big NO on gun game. Hell, I bought Umbrella Chronicles and I didn't get more than one level in to it before I got bored and gave up. I know that's not traditional gun game, but it's similar enough.

I like my resident evil games filled with dodgy camera angles, bad controls and ZOMBIES! I don't mind whetehr they stick with the T-Virus (prequel?) or mov eon to something else but I want a survival horror game. If I wanted an action game I would by any of the other hundred there are. I'd even love a remake of resident evil 2 or 3 as long as they did it like the remake for number one on the gamecube, because that was awesome because it not only felt like the original horror was there (but better!), but it also had new area's cutscenes, enemies and all sorts so that it was still as scary for a resident evil veteran as for someone who had neve rplayed the game before.

I'd love to see current Gen remakes of 1,2 and 3, with the camera angle of 4/5, its still possible to make it scary, and rather than having shuffling slow zombies, why not make them more like the rage zombies ala 28 days later, those things fucking terified me

A return to the greats, 4 and 5 could have been any game with a change of skins.

1,2 and 3 were amazing games, who didn't love Nemesis? And the mercenary mode? Even though it was only do-able with one guy.

The best part was the ammo wasn't plentiful, in 4 and 5 ammo ended up stock piled in your backpack. You could easily run around spraying bullets round like an aerosol and still have plenty left over. In old games I sometimes ended up with the trusty knife, aiming at the roof, swinging wildly 'cos lets face it the aim style aiming was ... piss poor!

To blow a zombies head off in the old games, you had to wait till it was just out of grabbing range, aim at the sky and pull the trigger.

If you got the aiming of the new games with the ammo shortage of the oldies, the games could be great again.

EDIT: take one off classic, over the shoulder, las plagas and put one on classic over the shoulder, T virus.

I dun goofed.
