So the Grammys were on Sunday, and consensus seems to be that they sucked! Sucked plentiful balls! Where to start?
- Jeff Hanneman and Clive Burr, some of the biggest and most influential names in metal were left out of the memorial video, despite Chi Cheng being included
- Trent Reznor/Dave Grohl/James Homme/Lindsey Buckingham supergroup gets cut short by the credits/promo reel
- it's more obvious than ever that it's just a popularity contest
- as much as I don't like her, bringing up Taylor Swift's hopes for album of the year

i just wanted to include a funny gif

What'd you think?

Why wouldn't they mention anything related to Maiden when it comes to metal? Weirdos.

Heh, the expressions, they be funny.

I don't watch award shows. They're really really REALLY boring. I wouldn't even attend one personally if I were slated to win one.

The Grammys are ass every year, this is the rule, not the exception. I'm surprised that people are still surprised when the grammys suck.

Two Words: Milli Vanilli.

I'm pretty sure they've given out some really ridiculous awards before. I don't remember to whom, but I remember seeing a piece on this a while back that demonstrated why The Grammys are a sham with zero credibility.

Who gives a shit about the Grammys? They've always been a crock of shite (although I do want to see the NIN/QOTSA/Buckingham/Grohl thing).

Speaking as a fan of heavier music, I'd rather they just stopped bothering rather than sidelining it any more. They've got no idea- Black Sabbath? Led Zeppelin? Imagine Dragons? Fuck off. 13 wasn't award-worthy, Celebration Day is a fucking live album that came out in 2012 and Imagine Dragons are about as rock & roll as Coldplay. It's just picking the big names because they don't have a fucking clue. It's a fucking travesty that Stone Sour didn't even get a nomination for House of Gold & Bones 1 or 2, but I could list half a dozen bands more deserving than Black Sabbath or Led Zeppelin.

Any big awards shows are Presumptuous for the Pretentious. They are for big names that don't need anymore awards.

Yep. Anyone with any integrity or common sense should know to not give a rats arse about a popularity contest. But, as meh as this one was (as with every one before) my Daft boys came out on top, so best Grammys ever for me. Now to watch as everyone jumps on the D-Punk bandwagon and slowly gives up after they don't release an album this year.

It's just a night out for people in the music biz, pat each other on the back, do some fun performances with people you would never expect - (see Metallica and Lang Lang) and put a few photos in the press. It's always the same. I'm pleased Daft Punk won a fistful, but I'm surprised they can find enough nominations in some of the categories. The list of awards goes on forever.

The pop/rap hating internet thinks the Grammys suck

I have never been more completely, utterly and totally surprised in my life.

Ever.

For srs, guise.

OT: I liked them. Lorde and Imagine Dragons/Kendrick Lamar were a lot of fun to watch, Daft Punk won some stuff (YES), and we got some interesting things happening this year (Macklemore apologizing to Kendrick Lamar for winning a Grammy? lolwut?)

From what I've read, don't remember where, it seems that Macklemore was actually going to be excluded from a lot of the rap categories because the category deciders knew for a fact that Macklemore would end up sweeping a lot of the awards. That decision was overruled by the Academy and producers it seems and Mack was put into all the rap categories.

Good. Excluding someone because they'll win is cheap and stupid. -___-

It was interesting. Metallica played (albeit One a.k.a. the Most Overplayed Metallica Song Besides Enter Sandman), Queens of the Stone Age jammed with Dave Grohl, N.I.N., and I can't remember the other guy...fuck...his name escapes me...

Any way, it was good to see Daft Punk totally sweep the awards. Good for them. Paul Williams went up there, excepted the Album of the Year, made Niles Rodgers cry, and the robots hugged for way too long. It was great. You go Glen Coco!

Rock this year was a sham. Do we really need to say more? QOTSA didn't win best rock album. Shameful dispray. Imagine Dragons won something, which is shitty. They deserve nothing. They are about as interesting as getting a fart in your ear.

This. I was so mad when they left out FUCKING JEFF HANNEMAN AND CLIVE BURR. WHY WOULD YOU DO SUCH A THING ASSHOLES. WHYYYYY????//Q/q?!??!!/1q?

The last minute jam was cut short and I was so fucking bummed. It was getting good, then "This has been brought to you by Delta Airline." and I'm like, "***** give me more of this, i could care less about your damn airline".

There were a lot of snubs though. Surprised Arcade Fire didn't get a nod this year.

I don't watch stuff like that but I saw something about the winners.
It just seems to be "here's awards for the same 6 artists we constantly spam on the radio"

I don't really like most of the crap I have to listen to at work because of the radio but it's popular for a reason I suppose.

Glad Daft Punk won some stuff, I like them.

What, you mean moreso than they usually are? *cynical laungh*

I didn't follow them, as alas, I live in Ol' Blighty, but I heard that they snubbed some really good artists, and that there was a thing with Paul & Ringo that didn't go down that well.

Though Daft Punk winning a bunch of important awards reminds me that the music industry is not full of bland, thinly spread paste, and the fact that people can appreciate something unique like Daft Punk.

I reject your accusation. I enjoy many of the songs you kids today classify as "Rapping" and "POP" and those other newfangled genres and I still thought the Grammies were dumb.

Checkmate, Atheists.

OT:
Daft Punk won a bunch of stuff, Macklemore won most of the rap awards and Skyfall got some wins, so that's cool.

Royals wasn't nearly good enough for song of the year, although at least it won instead of that pile of ass, Roar. The fact that that was even nominated is a crime.

The rest was either irrelevant or boring.

Still, it has been entertaining to see the shitfits being thrown in various areas of twitter.
