I didn't watch much of them this year, but I'd like to know how the good ol' escapist community felt about em.

Didn't watch them. Though I did hear they paid a very nice tribute to Michael Jackson.

I hate celebrities, like, to the point where you can show me a picture or give me a name & I still won;t know what you're talking about.

I really don't like the Grammy's all that much, some of their decisions in the past have been more than questionable.

The question is: are awards shows even relevant to gamers/geeks like us?

Probably not. I know I didn't watch them, nor did any gamers/geeks I know. It more like an opportunity for popular people to pat eachother on the back before they go back to swimming in their pools filled with cash made from the simpletons and the easily manipulatable. Yawn.

Looking through the results now...

I see Bela Fleck won an award which is always deserved. He's a beast.
Judas Priest won something. Also acceptable.

The rest is either pop trash or shit I don't care about.

Well the metal category was better than most years, but one thing is that Lamb of God doesn't deserve to even be notified. Even though Megadeth should've gotten a grammy instead of Judas Priest winning for a live track of a song that was recorded over 20 years ago, it beats Lamb Of God winning a grammy.

I'd rather have J.T. win a grammy than Metallica, even though once again Megadeth should have gotten a grammy for Rust in Peace.

EDIT - I'm thinking of a different grammy awards.(1991 metal awards)

Not much point of me watching them. The people who I want, and rightfully deserve it, are never going to get anything. Stupid audience that is made up of entierly tweens and rabid fans....

There's no way in hell that Jethro Tull should have beat Metallica in the METAL category - regardless of what your preferences for music are, Metallica deserved that grammy. It shows a gross disconnection with the music community on the part of the Grammy judges.

I caught like twenty seconds total of the Grammy's (Grammy's gets spell-checked?)
because I was watching basketball.
Doesn't take much to get a Grammy these days, don't it?

I want to know who is on their panel that decides who actually wins these things. I'm sure it would be totally different if it was their peers, or fans that vote, but it's not. It's random industry pisspots that make all the decisions.

Lol, i am so glad that "I didn't watch" Is the winning option by a landslide.

Really who cares about awards shows anymore? The oscars are a joke, so they make the Golden Globes. Then when those become a joke, something else will take over. Same with the grammy's.
I don't need an awards show to tell me what music I like.
