Poll: The Internet is NOT for Porn

Don't get me wrong, there is a MASSIVE amount of porn on the internet, but considering how [HEADING=2]MASSIVE[/HEADING] the actual internet is; I'd say that there's not quite as much porn as people think.

I'm damn sure that it's under 10% and I think 1.1% is more accurate than many would first think. I mean, just THINK at all the ways we use the internet, not just the way lonely male teens use it.

Trying to say how much of the internet is porn is equatable to trying to say how much of the universe is hydrogen. Yes, there's a *huge* amount of it, but the thing that it's part of (the internet/space) is so vast that it's practically a moot point.

You say "only one point one percent", but remember the internet is fuckin' huge. Any one thing being a full one percent of it is amazing.

That said, I wouldn't trust that statistic even if it seems about right to me. Never trust a study unless you know every single little detail.

I think there is too much porn, as if you watch enough, you realize that alot of it is the same... unless its Japanese, but I dont think anyone but japanese males can stomachthat stuff.

I don't remember where it was from, but I heard from another study that 30% of the internet was made up of pornography of some sort. And I believe that that is a reasonable number. Even if it isn't proven, I still plan to use 30% as a rule of thumb.

It definately is not even close to as high as 30%. According to Alexa the first Porn site comes in at 42nd place for internet traffic and only 10 porn sites come in the top 1000.

But I'm not talking about traffic. I agree, if they had been talking about internet traffic, I'd believe 1.1%. However, I'm talking about volume of porn sites. For me, it means that for every 100 pages, or every 100 images, on the internet 30 of them are porn.
