I always preferred being a good guy.

The light side endings in pretty much everything are so much more satisfying. In KOtoR, the dark ending is good but if you played the second one... that ending is ruined.
Amen, I did light side ending first in TFU, and I thought "That's kind of depressing... damn you lucasarts"

but then I did the dark side ending... and my jaw is still super glued to the floor from the shocking amount of depression

the emperor kills everybody that you've ever loved and makes you into his personal assassin and slave, as painfully as possible

The first one I completed on both sides, then the second one I decided to remain neutral. Big mistake, I got stuck at that one place that requires you to be one or the other.

This is a reason I have "problems" with the KotOR series, I like being bad, but not evil, I'm the selfish type, but in games like these, I get "Morally compelled" and it sucks. Especially since I never feel like that in real life.

I'm in the middle of a playthrough of the first game now, and i tend to go for the light side, though I use...questionable methods if needed. For some reason that makes me feel like an ass and rather wishing i hadn't done anything evil...for now. I think I might take a evil "run" as well later though...if I have the stomach for it. Curse you, immersion and morals!

Dark Side is 10 times better than Light Side in combat, powers, dialogue options and everything else, but I'm just naturally a Light-Sided guy so I almost never go Dark Side

Light Side. Though I've never went total light side. My character was a jackass when the situation warranted it (Like explaining in great detail how you will kill a group of Sith punks who are bothering you, or whenever talking with HK-47), but I generally went with light side.

My only gripe is that at the end of KotOR 1, you can't tell the Jedi Council Asshats to shove their medal up their brainwashing asses while still rejecting the dark side. But other than that.

[begin munchkin nerd rant]
Oh, and Lightside doesn't get good powers? My Jedi Watchman had the Force Valor, Speed, and Aura powers maxed, with dual lightsabers modded out the ass. When I got Force Enlightenment (which is a spell that casts all three of those powers) at the beginning of the endgame, my guy raped all. Speed gives 2 extra attacks per round, and Valor and Aura buff your stats through the roof. So every round, I was getting 4 critical hits worth about 200-300 damage each. I also had force jump, which multiplies your attack power against enemies more than 15 meters away. I killed the giant storm beast on Malachor in 2 rounds, and didn't take any damage. If KotOR 2 had PvP, I would destroy >:D

I also had a high charisma stat, so casting Master Heal completely filled my life bar, and stasis rarely failed.

And my guy also knew Force Lightning. By the end, I had so many Force Points, the extra alignment cost was nothing.

I play all games on the "light side" path. I tend to enjoy the "good" endings more than the "dark side" endings.

I played both, of course I never actually completed the game but I got to the end with my light character and my dark character was sorta in the middle of the game. I almost always go light because when I go dark I feel guilty sometimes haha.

so i've just been playing kotor 2 nonstop the past week, and i've gone through 3 playthroughs all dark side. I was in the middle of my 4th playthrough of the week today when I decided to go light side, and what happens? I get the dreaded Nar Shaddaa glitch...spent 3 hours doing EVERY side quest in hopes that it would advance the story...eventually gave up..now I'm too pissed to play it...does anyone know how to bypass the glitch?

I got the Dark Side ending, but was technically a Light Side character. I had too much dignity to go full evil, considering the "Dark Side" choices often demand that you act the psychotic spastic, and all.

I would like to say I follow my own moral compass in an RPG, but the dialogue options in the KotoR games were SO obviously either light side or dark side that everyone should know which points they're getting every time they say something.

That said, I find being obnoxiously evil to be boring. I play light side and dark side in different playthroughs, but as an above poster said, I prefer a bit more subtlety in my sith lords than force persuading guys to jump off the platform in Nar Shadaa. I'm pretty sure I misspelled that but I'm not gonna go goole the correct spelling.

Dark Side. The powers are so much more fun. With the light you can freeze a guy in place and smack him a few times, but being dark you can shock, strangle, and drain their health to heal yourself. Plus its just fun to see how people react when you tell them youre going to kill them in conversation.

The problem with going dark side is that most dark side choices are just yelling and killing people for no reason. It's really not impressive or sinister. It's barely even interesting. You're just playing some jerkoff wandering the galaxy, messing up people's lives for no reason other than dark side points.

Also light siders can use force lightning anyway, so I can't see any disadvantages.
