OH GOD SPIRIT TRACKS! While Phantom Hourglass is by no means a bad game, it's really weak by Zelda standards. The dungeons are totally linear (Yes, you could argue that for most recent Zelda titles, but those at least have you pick between doors now and then), the puzzles are laughably easy, which is made even worse since there's usually a signpost telling you exactly what you need to do, and the Temple of the Ocean King is an abomination. And you know what, I actually preferred the sailing in Wind Waker. I felt like I was gallivanting through the high seas on a boat that could take me anywhere, in PH I just draw a line and let the game do the work for me.

While a couple of these problems carried over in Spirit Tracks, the dungeons did at least get harder toward the end.

I didn't like either very much to be honest, but at least Spirit Tracks didn't have the Temple of the Ocean King, so I guess I'll go with that.

I've never played or even heard of Spirit Tracks, however Phantom hourglass was an abomination, so odds are Spirit tracks is better. Windwaker is my favorite zelda game ever just barely edging out link to the past. So if anyone should be predisposed to liking phantom hourglass its me. My advice save yourself the heartache, and stay far far away from phantom hourglass.

There was literally only 1 puzzle in the entire game that i didn't figure out in less than 1 minute. I actually ended up having to look it up online, not because it was so difficult/complex but because it required physically doing something to my DS that i didn't even know was possible, and realistically (given how profoundly stupid it is) probably shouldn't be.

Phantom Hourglass was pretty good except for that fucking Temple of the Ocean King. It was terrible stealth and you had to journey through it after every dungeon. That was terrible.

I need to pick up Spirit Tracks though.

Yeah, Spirit Tracks was preferable to Phantom Hourglass for me because I couldn't handle the timed sneaking around in the Ocean King Temple. And even then, I didn't really mind the sneaking or the inability to properly fight back, but the whole timed effort really bugged me.

However, in Spirit Tracks, I didn't like the fact that if I made a path from one place to another, I had to totally re-plan my route when one of those demon trains decided to turn a certain way and get in mine.

HOWEVER however, PH had Linebeck, who was definitely the best part of the game. But ST had Byrne who was also a character that was pretty awesome.

Just my two cents.

I've played both, and honestly, I prefer Spirit Tracks. You didn't have to march in and out of one dungeon on a regular basis while trying to mindlessly stealth your way through, and you had Zelda as partner as well (albiet on a rather limited basis). Well...you still had to return the tower in the center of the map on a regular basis, but you didn't have revisit floors you already visited unless you wanted to. Plus, you didn't have to worry about the annoying health-draining thing. However, you were literally stuck on rails when you were out on the world map, which made certain enemies hard to dodge. Still, it had its charms and challenges.

I liked PH because of its boss fights, its short sailing times, the customization with the ship, and the characters.

However, PH didn't have the motherhumping Temple of the Ocean King. It's not that hard -- I've never gotten caught by a Phantom ONCE, and my time limit never went lower than five minutes -- it's just pissing annoying. Get Spirit Tracks, personally.
