I've had an iPhone and I've supported enough Blackberry's and Android's to know I don't like those too. I really like my Windows Phone but it does lack when it comes to the variety of apps vs iOS but I'm willing to live with that because of Achievements and integrated Office support for work.

I have a flip phone that I bought 2 years ago (my first phone). Strangely enough, I use it more as an alarm clock, to do list/reminder, and a calculator than for talking/texting. If I were to buy a smartphone, I'd probably use it mainly as a personal organizer for stuff like keeping track of my budget using spreadsheets, or reminding me to do stuff. As far as ringtones go, can you simply plug any smartphone into your computer and download a song from your computer to use as a ringtone, or do only certain types of smartphones allow that?

Flip phone with a full keyboard, I couldn't stand Blue Force Tracker touchscreens in Iraq, and I can't stand "smart phone" touchscreens. Aside from the input, the displays on those little bastards leave much to be desired. I require no less than a netbook for internet use (generally more. I love my desktop).
Did I mention battery life? Yeah, that sucks on those damned phones as well. My phone can idle for over 2 weeks before needing a charge.

I own a Blackberry Bold 9700 and I love it. I don't dabble with BBM but I love the qwerty keyboard. Almost from day 1 I've been able to touch type on it, its fast, efficient and easy to use. It gives me access to the websites I like to see whilst out and about and the battery life is good. Its also very durable!

I've tried both, an Android and an iPhone, and I really like iPhone more. Experiences with both.

Play music
iPhone: Sure, here you go. Yeah iTunes is annoying, but at least it's easier to sync songs
Android: Okay, but it's going to be annoying to put songs on me without iTunes, plus I'm going to drain the battery

Use Internet
iPhone: Sure, here you go
Android: Okay, but if you try to open multiple windows, I won't even try to open them. Plus I'm going to drain the battery

Use Internet and play music
iPhone: Woah man, a bit annoying to switch music, but okay
Android: DSL;KJACSIOME REBOOOOOOOOT. Plus I'm going to drain the battery

Internet browser crash
iPhone: Sorry brah, I'll close that real fast, and when you reopen your browser, all your pages are still there
Android: What? Internet crashed? I'll get to it. Give me a few minutes. Reopen your pages? What? No, I'm going to take you to your homepage. Plus I'm going to drain the battery

Application is running slow
iPhone: Shoot, press the home button and it'll be better
Android: DSL;KJACSIOME REBOOOOOOOOT. Plus I'm going to drain the battery

Accept a call
iPhone: Here's your call
Android: DSL;KJACSIOME REBOOOOOOOOT. Plus I'm going to drain the battery

Get something on the store
iPhone: My stuff's expensive, but at least iTunes cards are easily accessable, and the store's simple
Android: Paypal. Don't own one? Too bad. And my store is a clusterfuck. Plus I'm going to drain the battery
