One: your post wasnt there till after I had posted mine because pages do not auto refresh...

Two: You managed to squeeze out 2 titles over the time period of 2 gens I think thats fairly dead I mean it isnt a fully dead genere but its bearly touched thats for sure and the titles that do come out arnt nearly as good as the older ones. These days most titles are either fps, rpg, hack n slash or a combination of them. The other generes are there but are not as explored or touched on as they could be thats for sure...

Wups, I probably shouldn't have done the whole "One: (point) Two: (point)" thing. It makes everything sound contentious, which wasn't my intent.

I was just trying to say you're not alone in still loving the genre, and mentioned Madness Returns and Psychonauts in case you hadn't played them. I'm definitely not trying to argue that the genre isn't dead.

Wheres 4x or point and click adventurer games, to of my favorite genres that are now on life support (4X only indies and Civ remains of this once powerful genre) or just staring to be made again.

FPSs are probably the most popular genre overall (see CoD sale figures)...But it seems this site leans more to RPGs, and I'm with them.

Yes we did. Todd Collins, who has all of the mobility and athleticism of a 74-year old Parkinson's sufferer, and Caleb Hanie whose only known fact is that he set a record for the lowest overall rating of a player in Madden history, scoring a 42.

lol, well good luck this season, if it make you feel any better I'll root for you guys...when you face Minnesota or Detroit.

Strategy games please and not RTS which typically have very little strategy and are more tactical, I mean grand strategy games where you control whole nations not individual units.

Mine is
RPG, MMO, MOBA, Platformer(Including Mirror's Edge and Prince of Persia?), Survival Horror, Shooter(Third person, first person, whatever), Fighter.

The "Minecraft" is in there somewhere but can't really place it for the reasons Zero Punctuation covered "I hesitate to call it a game" even though it's awesome. Plus I don't know what you'd call that genre... Sandbox/adventure/3d modeling program/horror/beat em up.

My notes for the poll.
-You should just write MMO, because MMORPG is a very limited category and very few games aspire to be only that these days, mmos are often about fighting, action, and shooting.
-Horror as an other? It may include shooting, though if done well? It won't.
-FPS Is fine as a generalization now but it's still silly that third person is ignored by definition and just counted as 'FPS'.
-Massively Online Battle Arena. At least that's what I think it stands for... For the popular League of Legends and other games like Heroes of Newerth or the pioneering Defense of the Ancients.
-Shocked there is no Fighter option. No love for BlazBlue and Guilty Gear?

Better than me. I take the rivalry thing very seriously. I cheer for two teams, the Bears, and whoever the Packers are playing. But good luck.

I hate Minnesota first and foremost, then Bears, and Detroit it just cute. Thought this year Chicago did rise to Minnesota's level for me because they were way more of a threat

My favorite has always been RPG, but FPS has to be the most popular genre. Look at game sales on CoD games, and they come out every 6 months.

What? The title asks to the most popular and then the poll itself asks for one's personal favorite?

The most popular is easily RPG. If FF13 can sell, what was it, 10 mil despite everything said against it, then that has to serve as testament to something.

My fav would probably be a mixture of plat, action, and RPG, which unforunately hasn't been invented yet and the closest to that is Rachet and Clank.

Which is definitely FPS, the amount of casual people playing FPS games far out strips RPG! I would guess at like 3-1 ratio of FPS vs RPG.
