Ok, so I just got back from watching this film with a friend and I have learnt a valuable lesson in those two hours... Never listen to my friends. 'Let's go see The Mummy' he says, 'It'll be good' he says. Wrong! It was the worst movie I have ever seen and I have seen a few too many films staring Ben Stiller.

Of course; this is just my view. I wanna see what every one else thought of it. It was dead when we went to see it so I assume most of you will have probably passed at the oppertunity to watch the jewl of plot holes... Neigh, pitfalls and awful charactisation along with "witty" one liners.

Although I spent the drive home slating this film on every little detail, I am known to be quite the cynic so let me know what you thought of it.

I liked the other Mummy movies, this one doesn't look any good though since it DOESN'T HAVE THE BLOODY MUMMY IN IT! Seriously they're in China and Imhotep got dragged down into hell, I really don't see how it can call itself 'The Mummy'. Please if I'm wrong correct me, since I haven't seen it and from what I'm hearing it sounds rubbish and I'd rather spend an hour of my life watching something good.

To be honest its as good as any of the other mummy films which I rather like, its not intended to be brechtian satire its just a bloody good romp. With a good continuation of characters and decent special effects there the films that kept my love of adventure films alive.

And if you think thats the worse film you have ever seen clearly you havent seen the Orphanage, The Bridges of Madison County, the remake of Dawn of the Dead or indeed the Blair Witch project all of which were so bad made me want to twist my own brain out and beat the various directors to death with it.

Nope, it doesn't even have have the Mummy in it and one of the worst things is... there are like 3 characters who have been living ALONE in remote or underground places in China for a long time and they speak perfect English!

Not intending to start a war, but what's wrong with The Orphanage? I thought it was a great movie.

The one Liners I heard in the commercials were bad with bad delivery, that can't be a good mix considering the fact that since they're fighting the movie's probably full of one liners.
"Die you mummies die." being the highlight of awful and that was only a commercial.

I generally have a pretty high tolerance for crappy movies, but I'm going to wait until this one makes it to HBO.

I agree with horrible one liners ("What? The yak yakked!" *facepalm*) If you're not a fan of one liners, don't worry. THere's only about eighty-seven million of them spread throughout the movie. I don't think that its ironic either that this one is essentially the first Mummy copy-pasted with a few things switched out.

Replace Egypt with China, Imhotep with Jet Li, book with knife, Arabian army with...um...yetis, sand-based super powers to fire/water/earth/metal/wood based DBZ powers, and Jonathan with...well, Jonathan, but a more annoying Jonathan.

The one good thing is that Rachel Weisz had the sense to drop out of this movie because of the script/

It might have been a good movie had it had nothing to do with the mummy at all!!

Now I liked the mummy movies a lot, however saying that this movie is part of the mummy movies is disgraceful. First off Eavie isn't even played by the same character which is a major put down. They've removed anything good to make it child-friendly. And yes it doesn't really have a mummy in it. The lack of Egyptian in it also bothers me since that is the whole basis of "mummy".

Now if you haven't seen the other mummy movies you may like it. If you have your in for a huge disappointment. Had they changed all the characters and just called it "Tomb of the dragon king" it would've been a passable movie, but to hold it to the same expectation as the previous mummys is... sad really, its a pathetic attempt.

The comci relief is funny for 10 year olds, the mummy isn't scary, it's not well thought out... in essence its just another crappy movie made into a sequel to ride off the better movie that came before it. Don't bother if you liked the mummy. It will only make you mad... at least thats what it made me.

And now the Scorpion King 2. Think of something NEW!

Erm to be picky the process of mummification is not just Egyptian, they found mummies in Peru and yes that would have made a better film. The point of the mummy is not actually Imhotep but the group of characters fighting him. It would have been a pretty dull movie if it was actually about someone who couldnt speak English, hmm an egyptian version of Apocalypto anyone?? Family friendly like someone being pulled apart by horses for example? Or the quite horrific manner the titular emperor is cursed.

And to those saying why do those living in China speak English, have you been to Shangri La recently? Know what language they speak do you?

And to say evie wasnt played by the same character? are we refering to Rachel Weiz as a fictional character these days???

Oh and finally what was wrong with the orphange...

Poor plotting
rubbish story
bad acting
predicatable twist
The end which was so "sweet" I nearly lost a foot to diabetes
pedestrian direction

It was only given any critical acclaim because it was a foreign language film. Give me giant three headed dragons any day. People are getting too cynical in there old age!

I think the first one was brilliant, the second one was good (nothing special) but the third, considering its got a Chinese villain, well kinda confuses me seeing as Mummy's are Egyptian and Chinese people, are well Chinese. Next it will be The Mummy: Cavern of the Loch Ness Monster.

While I won't be going to see the movie, I feel it is my duty to point out that cultures other than the Egyptians had mummies.

Didn't see it. Don't plan to. 3 reasons:

1.) The trailer doesn't look good or interesting.

2.) Liked the first movie. Second was okay but nothing I wanted to see again. I didn't make it through the Scorpian king at all. Thus, no reason to expect much from this one.

3.) It's getting 11% at Rotten Tomatos. That's pretty damn bad, and while popularity isn't everything, if 90% of the people hate it(and it's not a movie that caters to specific tastes), that usually means they're right.

I liked the first Mummy, the second one, meh, this one...meh-er I can only guess. They were never truly good and now that the bratty kid has grown into a bratty teenager without Brendon Fraiser or that other guy aging a bit, I doubt it could have improved.
