so i havent seen a new 52 thread so far (shame on you escapists!) so i created one myself so this is the place for all your new 52 questions thoughts and so on...

ill start...
did anyone read deathstroke? if not do your self a favor and avoid this book like fire this is a waste of 3$ i wont spoil details but just to make clear what i mean those are the first "balloon" of the issue:
"deathstroke the terminator--the scariest badass on the planet" no joke... and it gets worse... i mean seriosly we know deathstroke is a badass we SEE he is you dont have to tell us! also his "badassary" kind of goes to far when he
kills a bunch of teen assassins amatures claiming "he doesnt work with competition

also im rather dissapointed from the fact that sinestros career as a GL do not seem like it is going to last for two main reasons: 1 the arc is called "sinestro" second
he comes to earth to visit the misrable ringless hal and says "if you want your ring back, youll do everything i say.

so far I read batman and robin, GL, RL, action comics, detective comics, storm watch, deathstroke, green arrow, and JLA (of course)

so escapists what are your thoughts? what did you read? what do you recomand? thats the place to talk about the biggest relaunch in history!!!

Despite my avatar I'm not big into comics, just read a few stand alone series like the Watchmen and Ex Machina. But, I decided to give a few books of the "new 52" a try. I was not at all impressed, none of the books I picked up felt like they were aimed at new readers at all. Most were in their costumes, fighting crime and on a first name basis with other heroes in the first few pages. I know they plan to fill in the origins later. But, I'm not going to pick up a book monthly, hoping this is the month it finally decides to fill in the blanks for new readers.

So yeah, I certainly won't be picking up a 2nd issue of any of them.

I read JLA #1 of The New 52 and thought it was pretty good. It's really interesting seeing these classic characters interact as if they've only just met and know nothing about each other. Green Lantern incredulously learning that Batman had no super powers was fantastic and his arrogance concerning the extent of his own powers was great. I think this reboot has real promise.

I'm a DC veteran though, and I'm not sure how it would fair for a new reader.

2 things
following a major time altering event in the end of the latest big event "flashpoint" that concluded yesterday a lot of the timeline and history was altered and preaty much everyone (exept maybie GL that had no change in continuity hip hip huray) got a new origin and a new history for example assuming you took detective and action comics (batman and superman) they are both much younger hell superman cant even fly yet! he has been "heroing around" for about half a year no more! nothing to know more than that (the origin for this new superman wasnt reviled yet to new and old readers as one so your not missing anything) same goes for batman in detective also the villians are well known (joker and luthor and there is this "pupet maker" but he is absulutly new...)
second thing do you realy need anyone to tell you the origin of batman or superman? and if so cant you just go on and check in the web? seriously just go to wikipidia they have a lot of information! but if you arent intrested then comics is probably not for you... (just like bob said)

I've been reading as many as possible (I still have some that I have to read), and, overall, my reaction is pretty mixed.

Some comics I've surprisingly really enjoyed, or have thought the changes were really well executed, and I'm definitely going to continue reading a few more issues. Some just confused the hell out of me and basically broke my brain trying to figure out what was going on in the universe. Some changes I was hostile to from the outset because of how attached I was to the characters or teams. Some I just thought were 'meh' - they were fine, but didn't work at all as number one issues.

A major issue I have is the confusion with all the Batman comics. Some are directly following on from the previous events in the DCU, while others seem to be starting from scratch, so I'm forced to assume Detective Comics and JLA is out of continuity with every other Batman comic, which is a real headache since they didn't explain that until week 3. JLA Hal is also out of continuity with Green Lantern Hal apparently, which, again, confuses the hell out of me, let alone new readers who have never picked up a comic, but I digress.

Ones I really liked:
Bat-Wing
Action Comics
Green Arrow
Batman
Nightwing

Ones I'm cautiously optimistic about after reading the first issue:
Suicide Squad
Birds of Prey (even without Huntress and no Renee <_<)
Blue Beetle
Justice League
Supergirl

Competent, but nothing special:
Animal Man
Batwoman
Detective Comics

Seemed fine, but confusing because I'm not that familiar with the characters:
Legion Lost
Superboy
Captain Atom

Ones that were just meh or didn't work as first issues:
Green Lantern
Wonder Woman
Justice League International (shame because I love Booster Gold)

Issues I outright hated for one reason or another:
Batman & Robin
Batgirl

Others I'm in the process of reading, haven't got yet, or am not going to read because I don't know the characters at all or it doesn't seem like my thing.

Yeah, I have it downloaded on iPad, I just haven't gotten around to it yet. I've been willing to give the new timeline a try. Again, my only major problem with it is the continuity problems coming out of all the Batman lines. I imagine new readers would be confused as hell to see a totally rebooted Batman in Detective Comics and JLA and the previous continuity's Batman picking up right where he left off in Batman, Batman & Robin, Nightwing and Batwoman.

I'm also kind of worried not knowing where some of my favourite characters are yet. Here's hoping they're not erased from continuity. *fingers crossed*

on ipad? eeewww! printed copies FTW!
and the continuity problem can be confusing (even i went eh when reading B&R and realizing that damian exists...) hopefully the early titles will catch up (or not cause this is actualy rather interesting this way...)

and if you mean the JSA then im happy to infrom you that DC anounced they will return... sooner or later but probably this year...

Currently the only one I really enjoyed were Stormwatch, Action Comics, Animal Man and Resurrection Man and Super-boy.

Actually Action comics is meant to be anywhere between 6-10 years ago. Justice League was meant to be 5 years ago. We're still waiting on Superman #1 but assumedly he'll fly in that.

I thought Dan Didio said they were putting the JSA to rest. I believe Stormwatch is effectively replacing them, make of that what you will.
