If any of these are so much failures, why are they THE BIG THREE? Seriously, all three are appreciated by many in the masses.
yeah, I realize the marketing end of it. My guess is the Wii will be like you predict, that is, not that much better than "meh" to most people already using other systems. However, that's no reason to think it'll do poorly. The "great fail" the wii, was the best selling out of any of those systems.Capt. Crankypants said:Marketing. Take with salt, om nom nom.zehydra said:I'm not gonna disagree, but Nintendo stated that this next console is going to be catered not to casual gamers or hardcore gamers, but to ALL gamers.codisthebest said:nintendo because theyre trying to market there next console for the hardcore but they already lost them because of the wii
That's what they said anyway.
The only 'console' to really nail casual and hardcore has been the PC imo. That's not because I'm all uppity about PC gaming, but it's just the versatility of the platform. Most people who aren't non-gamers still feel comfortable with the system because they use it already for everyday tasks, so jumping to Peggle or Farmville isn't a biggy, while anyone after high performance, graphics, the most intense online experience etc. can do exactly what they want by configuring their machine for the job.
Oh right, topic. Um, gee, might be Nintendo actually. I predict nothing less than overwhelming 'meh' from this Wii U. They may have shot themselves in the foot prior by making their casual, family friendly console (the Wii) so popular. I think the Wii U will sell enough to be financially viable, but not any great success.
I would think that that would be a big indicator. Namely, if any of them fail to do something good with their product, it is reflected in the sales. Ummm...what are the other ways?Xzi said:Failure doesn't necessarily mean low sales numbers.FalloutJack said:If any of these are so much failures, why are they THE BIG THREE? waait how did sony fail with the ps3 the ps3 is a great machinerandomfox said:Sony failed with their current console. As much as I hope their next one will be better, I don't wish for bad games no one does, but the only thing that even kept the PS3 afloat was the massive third party library of games, and the PS3 and PS4 simple doesn't/wont have that with current gen graphics and the like. I love their indie selection on PSN, but if I had to guess I would say I think the PS4 is going to fail.
oh You meant ps2 when you said "that even kept the PS3 afloat was the massive third party library of games" your typo confused merandomfox said:Periods, mother fucker, do you use them!?Patrick Young said:waait how did sony fail with the ps3 the ps3 is a great machinerandomfox said:Sony failed with their current console. OT:
Microsoft needs to stop focusing on the kinect if they stop they will not fail but if they don't they will fail
Great machine or not (by the way I love the object and factually supported argument there) the numbers don't lie. The PS3 is at the bottom of the poles because it lacked what carried the PS2: third party support. With current gen consoles the PS3 doesn't have the massive library the PS2 had because not all third party developers can afford current gen graphics, which is why most of them moved over to the Wii. The downsides of upping the graphics bar.
Since the PS4 is probably only going to get more convoluted, they are going to lose even more third party support, and I predict that is what's going to make them fail again. That and they made the Vita AT&T exclusive, which killed that system before he even got to the price point.

i hope you realise for the past 2 years the ps3 has outsold the xbox 360. and also the ps3 has better exlusives than the xbox 360 and wii. also what are you talking about the wii has no third party gamesrandomfox said:Periods, mother fucker, do you use them!?Patrick Young said:waait how did sony fail with the ps3 the ps3 is a great machinerandomfox said:Sony failed with their current console. Huh? I'm not sure what counts as first/third party but Sony has drummed up tons of support and their system has tons of great games. I fail to see why they'd suddenly lose all of that support with the PS4.randomfox said:Sony failed with their current console. The PS3 has more first party games than the 360 does. The ONLY 360 game that I want to play is Tales of Vesperia (it's on the PS3 in Japan though). Microsoft just has Halo, Gears, and Fable; and Gears and Fable could go multiplatform. Sony has Uncharted, Resistance, Ratchet and Clank, Sly Cooper, Killzone, LittleBigPlanet, MLB The Show, The Last Guardian, inFamous, Wipeout, Warhawk/Starhawk, God of War, Gran Turismo, MotorStorm, and SOCOM. Sony owns all those licenses, none of those series are going to other consoles as Microsoft could easily lose Gears and Fable. I've probably missed a few Microsoft first party series but Microsoft nor Nintendo can compete with Sony in the number of quality first party games. Plus, in my opinion, Sony has the best online games this gen with Metal Gear Online (best online shooter), MAG (best online FPS), and Warhawk (easy to pick up and play while being extremely deep). Plus, there's some Sony games like Heavenly Sword (better than GoW3 IMO) and Heavy Rain that probably won't be a series but they are great games. Sony has some great third party exclusives as well with MGS4, Valkyria Chronicles, and Yakuza.randomfox said:Sony failed with their current console.
