My first game was sonic adventures for the dreamcast. I just go for Nostalgai though because I tried playing it when I had played better quality games and it sucked ass. I remeber being chased by the killer whale was kick ass and my favorite level was the one when you got to snowboard with sonic. that kicked so much ass.

I voted for Third Gen, because that's when gaming really kicked off for me.

Gaming nostalgia for me tends to centre around specific games and their affect on my life rather than consoles. Each generation has given me a gaming memory, from my beginnings with the Atari 2600 all the way up to my PS3. All of them good. Heck, just thinking about it gets me all misty eyed. Now, where did I put my C64..?

Wow, I never really thought about this before.

When I was very young my grandfather gave my dad some money to get sky (cable telly), but as my dad couldn't afford the monthly payments he bought a CDi. Now you may think that this wold have been the worse gift ever, but as I was young it was only really for learning my ABCs. The CDi has a weird contoller, generally it is used as a mouse rather than a controller and this sparked my love for the greatest video game genre in existance. The point 'n' click adventure.

My cousin on the other hand is a year younger than me, but got consoles on relese dates. He had a megadrive, dreamcast, PS1 and PS2. Like every English gamer i've ever met (excluding myself), he was a hardcore sega fan, turned hardcore sony fan.

My nan had a little cottage she allowed us to use as she had moved house, and when Alex (my cousin) got the dreamcast, he considered the megadrive useless. He decided though not to sell it, but to keep it at the cottage for holiday usage. This ment that three days a year I was the happiest boy to walk the earth. I wasn't very good, but I loved every second of it.

A while later, Alex's parents decided the PS1 was so good that they bought a new one to take to the cottage. They bought with it two of the games I consider to have most nostalgia factor for myself, "spider-man" and "spyro 2".

My parents had only started giving me pocket money, and so in time I save all my 50 pees and asked all my reletives to just give my parents money for christmas, so they could buy (and wrap) a PS2. My first system (,as the CDi was shared with my sister, who lost intrest in games a long time ago). My parent's, (bless 'em) tryed their best with naff games like "Flintstones viva rock vegas". My cousin knew what was what though, and asked my aunt to get me THPS3, that I played constantly.

Unfortunatly I got SOCOM as a pressent the christmas after, and although a good game, I didn't realise it was a strategy and thought it was a FPS. I also thought, because I sucked (I now realise it's because I didn't order my guy to do anything), I was rubbish at FPSes and avoided them. Then I got a 360 and a copy of "the orange box". The rest is history.

Though I really didn't start getting into gaming until the days with my PS2, my fondest memories are playing Donkey Kong on my SNES. It was a hand-me-down from my cousin and he just kinda dumped it on my family. He'd introduced me to other PC games, but it was Donkey Kong that really caught my attention. Something about the easy to use controller, the fun gameplay and the... well, just the game, it grabbed me and never let go.

Eventually, several people I knew ended up getting PS2s, so I ended up persuading my parents to get me one. It was a fun system and one that I definitely still cherish (I'm play GOW right now), introducing me to some of my favourite games such as Jak, Kingdom Hearts and Final Fantasy. I still reckon that it's a damn good console, since I believe it catered to both casuals and hardcore fans with its library, something the Wii is still trying to do.

By this time I was a PS3 fanboy through and through, so when my dad suggested getting an Xbox with some point system thingy, I initially didn't give a shit, denouncing the thing as a spawn of Satan. Well, that changed after I got my hands on Halo, and I've enjoyed the Xbox ever since, getting only a few select games like Halo 2, Brothers in Arms: Road to Hill 30, and Ghost Recon 2. While the PS2 was damn fun, I really owe the Xbox since it introduced me to the world of FPSs, probably my favourite genre right now.

Having played both PS2 and Xbox, it was time to decide what 'next-gen' console to buy. While the PS3 had some of my favourite series, I unfortunately couldn't resist Gears, Halo 3 and the cheaper price tag. So about a year ago, I ended up getting my Xbox 360, a system I love and don't regret. I've ended getting up Gears and Halo 3 as I intended, but I also got several other excellent games like Mass Effect and Call of Duty 4. My biggest surprise is The Orange Box: initially I got it for Portal, but I was determined to get all my money's worth f the game, so I played Half Life. After playing it up till Ravenholm(sp?), I took a break for a while, and then went right back... and boy, was it a blast. Right after, I went and finished both episodes, and went back to finish both HL and Ep1 one more time. Some of the challenges, like 'Zombie Chopper' and 'The One Free Bullet', were somethings that I'm very proud of facing and meeting.

Right now, I'm enjoying some old games, and have started exploring some old PC games that I've missed out on. I've got FarCry, something I'm determined to finish, and God of War, a fun game that I wouldn't have been able to enjoy when I was younger.

... Wow, this brings back some great memories.

My first gaming experience was with the PC and I have stayed with it since then. N64 was pretty cool with SSB and mario, but starcraft, diablo and warcraft2 really brings back the good ol' gaming feeling

I've been a PC gamer more than a console-tard; so while I should have been engaging in joyful fun with my 5th generation stuff, I was playing Doom and other PC games.

5th gen. Mostly because the word "Diddy Kong Racing" turns me into a snarling beast of a fanboy (it was my first game)
DKR was always better than Mario Kart, man. :D

The fifth generation I have very fond memories of.

Mario Kart 64 was my first game, I remember getting really upset when I couldn't figure out the controls. The patience of my brother prevailed however, and soon I was rushing home from school everyday to play it with him.

I spent the days playing Super Mario 64, and the nights having fragfests on Goldeneye 64. Other games, like Donkey Kong 64, Diddy Kong Racing, Mario Tennis, Paper Mario, Tony Hawk, FIFA, Zelda and Star Fox all dominated my time. The last battle of OoT was epic and the ending nearly brought me to tears all those years ago.

Though I did have alot of fun with my gamecube, it never really compared with the N64, I still keep the thing plugged just in case I ever get the urge to play.

Without SMRPG, Super Mario Allstars, and quite a few others not on the SNES I wouldn't have become a gamer.

The ending of OoT did bring me to tears... because it took me like a half hour of cousins, siblings, and me thinking to figure out how to bring Ganon down (no one ever credited me for having common sense)

I have an incredibly romanticized view of my Genesis, and I love (and still play) my N64, but around '95 I found my true love...the PC

It was Age of Empires that drew me into PC gaming, and Jedi Knight that kept me there. Funny, though that now I work for one of Ensemble's rivals...

N64, PSX, and Sega Genesis are my three favourite systems. Since two of them fall under one category, I'm picking that :3

I miss the days when there were cool wacky games that had fling things in them. Remember Crimson Skies?

oh, while its not my first i think the PS2 was possibly the greatest console, and better for its generation than even all 3 of this generation.
