While I don't feel like The Passing was "the most important campaign in the Left 4 Dead story", I did enjoy some of the new game play elements that came with it.
To clarify that first point, it seemed like there going to be a far larger context in which the new survivors interact with the old ones. Maybe its my bad for the interpretation but I thought that possibly they would fight beside us as bots against double the number of infected. The whole business surrounding us actually seeing them in L4D2 just, imo, didn't really work out. But the circumstances surrounding a certain survivor were quite sad.
However, the pacing in this campaign is just awesome - there was never a moment a spitter wasn't in play and it felt a lot more frantic than previous campaigns. The finale was a bit of a downer, seeing two tanks being massacred in seconds takes the challenge out of that form of game play.
So fair zombie killers, what did you find most enjoyable about the campaign?
