I'm still undecided pending further announcements, but I'm leaning towards yes. So long as Sony doesn't come out with some bullshit DRM scheme before the console launches, or decides that the PS4 can't played used games, or decides to take ANY cues from microsoft whatsoever, I'll be on board with it.
Yea, that's the thing. PS4 details have been so vague, I think they were just waiting to see what MS was hoping to get away with so they can lowball them. Hopefully, it wont have any sort of consumer-screwing functions.
Even then, no way I'm getting a ps4 at launch. I'll wait until it drops a price point or two. If they improve the amount of PC games you can play in splitscreen, I may not need one at all.

As of right now, 10:30 am PST 5/31/13- the leaders in the polls are :

25.7% of us were already planning on purchasing it (and still plan on doing so)
25.7 % of us are awaiting more info (undecided)

Thats good news I guess. This is still a very small sample, however.

Im leaning towards no because its another console and Im pretty happy with my PC and some of the hardware coming out for us may allow for couch gaming and mobile gaming. However I want to hear more before I say for sure Im going to buy or not buy it. The same goes for the xbox.

I'll see how things pan out, but I wouldn't buy a PS4 or the innumerately named XBox One on launch in any case (not just for "cock up" launch reasons, but also to ensure their is a decent size back catalogue)

PS3 is my system of choice for this gen and i have no reason not to believe that Sony will deliver more of the games and genres that i love on PS4!
Same, but I'm still cautious. I'll probably not buy it on launch, but I'll wait for some good games to appear first. Already got the money put aside though. :D

Honestly besides a few exclusive titles that Sony has, I really can't think of much reason to get a PS4 on launch, or even a year or two after launch. My PC plays all the games I want to play and I would only have to upgrade the video card in a year or two to keep up with the cutting edge graphics, but otherwise should still play games on medium/lower settings. I am actually planning on buying a PS3 around November which is good because it means I can cancel my Xbox Live subscription before it renews. I'm actually kind of looking forward to playing through the exclusive PS3 games for the next year or two, which gives the PS4 ample time to sort out any hardware/software bugs, allow for the price to drop a bit, and for their game library to expand. The only way I can really see me purchasing a PS4 before say... 2015 is if Sony drops Netflix support, and even then I may just buy a Roku instead.

The thing is, I saw Microsoft's announcement coming a mile away. Considering all the latest 360 updates, their E3 presentations the last few years and a few other things, this focus on being a multi-media center was very predictable.

I got a WiiU because ever since the 3DS launch flopped, Nintendo has really been trying to get their shit together, and while there is room for improvement, it's still a generally positive trajectory.

Sony is... well, Sony is a lot harder to predict. For every smart move they make, there's a bone-headed decision waiting right around the corner. So I'm waiting for further news on the PS4. Thing is, people weren't exactly hot for the system when it was first announced. All this support came from how bad the XBox One reveal was. And while Sony hasn't done anything as monumentally stupid as Microsoft, there are still plenty of things they have yet to reveal, and all sorts of ways they can screw this up.

Yes and no. I never buy current-gen consoles, simply 'cause they're too expensive and I can get along with my PC perfectly well thanks very much. I will pick one up once the next generation starts coming out, just as I'm planning to pick up a PS3 and a 360 when the next gen drops, to play what few exclusives I may be interested in. For the rest of my gaming needs, I prefer PC. (Before anyone starts going on about gaming rigs being expensive, whilst my PC is not a gaming rig, far from it, I can perfectly well play games on medium-highish settings). Then again, I'll also probably pick up an Xbone if Microsoft doesn't close down the bloody servers for it.

Probably not - I don't plan on getting any of the three but it looks to me like PS4 is in the best position by far at present.

Maybe.
This applies to both the Xbone and PS4.

I'm just waiting for more news to come out. I'm on the PS4 side at the moment, because it looks better of the Xbox One and it has two games I look forward to (Hopefully Infamous: Second Sons and Persona 5). That is the only reason I am looking forward to the PS4. (Oh and free online, I have NOOOOO idea if Microsoft are going to make Xbox Live free or not ... probably not).

So yeah, I'm on the PS4 side at the moment but I have no intention of buying it.
Maybe if they release some new features to shoot Microsoft and a good price.

But I don't really care now. :/
In all honesty the Xbox One looks totally shit right now with all the bad press on the internet.

If I suddenly find myself moderately more affluent in the near future, you can be assured this is the console I'll go for (If I decide it's worth it).

"NO- I would never be caught dead with a disgusting console in my house!"
As this was the only option for PC-gamers. Not that I have anything against consoles! It's just I am perfectly happy with my PC and would rather upgrade it than buy a new console.

I'm mainly undecided, but I voted yes pending further announcements, simply because considering the competition I'm either going to have a PS4 next generation, or go without consoles and stick with my PC. The Xbox One has royally screwed itself and I want nothing to do with it, and I've never been a big fan of Nintendo, and nothing about the Wii U has served to change my mind. So now it's the PS4 or bust. Hopefully they learn from their competitors' mistakes.

Oh, but even if I do get a PS4, I have no intention of getting it this year. Next year, maybe. Maybe not. I'll most likely wait until whenever they have a price drop though.

I'm not sure. It all depends on the lineup. I just can't afford to get a console only to find there are no games I want to play. If I do get, it'll probably be a year on from launch, when some more games have been released and the console has dropped in price.

I think its interesting that only 2 people wanted to buy one, but now they are not due to some reason (aside from the people that are undecided).

I wonder what it would like like if we had the same poll question for the Xbox one.

I'm awaiting further announcements, but given that the Xbox One is a definite no-no for me at this point, I'm definitely leaning towards buying a PS4 if I'm looking for a console. I'm going to wait a year or so after the release date before actually buying one, when hopefully there will be more games for it and the price will be cheaper. Until then, I've fortunately got a laptop that's good enough to run the majority of new releases. It would be tempting to switch over to the Glorious PC Master Race completely, if it weren't for how I don't really have the space at the moment for a proper desktop, as well as apprehension about how buggy and poorly-optimised some PC ports can be.

Sure, I'll get it but I will give it some time first. I'll give it a chance to have the price drop and build a decent library of games that interest me. So essentially, it's more a question of when than if.

Ugh, I still need to save up for a Wii U, so even if the PS4 does come out and doesn't have that stupid DRM/no used games crap, I'll still wait to get it when it's older and had its price reduced.

No... but maybe yes.

Last gen I found both he PS3 and the Xbox 360 to be basically the same thing (the PS360), with only the wii trying to look genuinely different form the group by doing it's own thing.[small]please note that does not mean I liked the wii most, it was actually 3rd on my list for other reasons[/small]. I always like console races better when there is a HUGE distinction between the competitors, and I just don't see it with Microsoft and Sony. Granted, I'll start seeing it soon if Sony finally confirms that they allow used games and you don't need to use the eyetoy 100% of the time. But if they really are being tight lipped about that stuff because they do have the same stance as Microsoft, then they really are just the same all over again. If they prove they are genuinely different, I will considering getting a PS4 one day. As of right now, I am happy with my wiiU, and extremely excited to see the games they said they would announce at E3.
Ninja'd, this is basically exactly where I am too. I've always avoided Microsoft and Sony consoles, but for different reasons as time has gone on. When I was a kid they were too expensive, and most of the games were rated M anyway. As a teenager I never really felt a strong need to buy them because all my friends had them already and so I could pretty much play them whenever I wanted just by visiting a friend, now I avoid them because I can afford a decent PC and don't see the point in buying a console as well. Sony would have to really wow me with something incredible for me to buy a Playstation now.
