DethFan, you might not realise this, but forums like this one is usually made for discussion, balanced discussion. A poll on such a site, determining what is the scariest game, should to facilitate discussion cover all possibilities. Your attitude, your posts, your poll and your arrogant holier-than-thou attitude do nothing in the way of facilitating discussion. I would suggest trying another approach.

The thing is, you might not care about our opinions, good for you, you might think it's stupid problems. Good for you. But then again, we don't care in the least about you, or your polls, nor do we care for your attitude. We DO however care about these forums, we want the threads here to be as interesting as possible, to provide good information, and provide a nice basis for discussion.

You might only be here because you like bitching about us, sure, but if you intend to stay, if you intend to make something of your stay here, I'd suggest another attitude. The forums aren't here for your indulgence alone. They're here for all of us. That means the topics here should reflect that, and a topic named "The scariest game" should be about what really IS the scariest game, not voting on DethFans favorite scary games.

Man I'm noticing alot of pompus pricks on these boards. Listen I don't give a rats ass if you like my list or not. If you do good for you. But it's all about if you liked any of the games on this list. If you didn't and you comment something negative. For no good reason your just an asshole with no life. Please go bother someone elses thread with your stupidity problems.
Sadly, there's a thin line between being pompous and trying to conduct intelligent conversation, and I'm sure I crossed that more than once on these boards. However, this thread bothers me for two reasons, which I think are pretty justified.

1. If you bothered to use The Search Button, you'd see 'the scariest game' came up way too often already. For example:

http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/9.76738
http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/9.57244
http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/9.52663
http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/9.80259
http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/9.55160

The last one is the longest thread there's been on the topic that I found, it was more of a generalized "what surprised you while gaming" thread. Apparently, the original poster has been banned. Considering you're just posting stuff up without checking to see if it's been done already, you're on the track to be next. These boards are relatively highbrow in that manner in that the posters are expected to have enough responsibility to prevent unnecessary bloat by posting a ton of redundant threads.

2. As several have pointed out already, you really don't have a very good grasp of the scary games out there. I don't expect you to have every single scary game up there because there's only a maximum of 8 voting poll options on these boards, but you've nonetheless posted some relatively tame ones (compared to better offerings) while making some major exclusions.

Overall, you've violated the Original Post criteria in more than one way when you created this thread. That you're now taking it upon yourself to insult people for telling you what you're doing wrong is really not helping your case much.

Interesting, some people found dead space more scary than Doom 3.

Edit: Condemned by far is the most scary game on the list.

Where is Silent Hill? The games you have in your poll aren't scary.
Have you even played Condemned: Criminal Origins?

It's just typical "why isn't my favorite X thing on the list" behavior. It happens whenever a list of something is made.

The suffering, like jail wasn't scary enough with unholy creatures rising up from the ground to slaughter inmates and C.O.'s alike.

I played Condemned 1 and 2 and I don't think they are scary.

I voted for The Suffering I played that game when I was pretty young and it gave me quite a few good scares but I think Bioshock had some pretty freightening elements in it I'm not one to scare easy but those maniquins really scared me, I went into a room with a bunch of them left started walking down the hall looked back and there they were standing still like 3 feet away from me, I yelled HOLY SHIT!!! lol it was the first time my mom heard me swear.

The White Chamber is high on my personal list cause its so extremely well done to be an indie game, and i've played Bioshock, Dead Space, Doom 3 and some others, but The White Chamber tops them all, why?, because its a legitly scary game, it doesnt need to sink the the lowest form of fear, which is suprise fear, meaning you get scared because something jumps out at you, which both Doom 3 and Dead Space is filled with.

Bioshock? Are you serious? I hear a lot of people saying Bioshock was scary, but come on, it wasnt even a little (ok maybe the start before you have the wrench).

And that is said by somone who runs out of the room when speedcrab zombies appear in hl2.Screaming.

So the scariest game i played was HL2, because i avoid horrorgames

Ditto.

And the ship.

But the Shalebridge Cradle was the scariest thing in gaming history, therefore I can't vote in this list.
*points* I'm with him on this one.

Well I can't very well tell you what you think is scary and isn't.

Condemned 2 did lose almost all of it's scariness though. What were they thinking with that combo system? It's like they said in a meeting "Hey, let's break the immersion as much as possible!"

Games don't scare me anymore since I ran straight into a Redead in Ocarina of Time.

Although Resident Evil 2 made my heart skip a couple beats once in a while.

I didn't vote for any of these games because the only one I've actually played is Dead Space. I would say the scariest game I've ever played is Metroid Fusion. You know if I say a GBA game is the scariest game I've ever played then I'm serious. You spend the entire game alone on a space station overrun by monsters. Your only contact is a heartless computer and you run around in the slowly deteriorating ship with the eeriest music I've ever heard trying to avoid the imminent death of running into the unstoppable SA-X. Sometimes you can hear the SA-X's footsteps...then you start to wonder "Oh God! Where is it?!"

Close second, the island section of Resident Evil 4. The Regenerators scared the crap out of me.
Also, you fail at courage.
Hey dude, I kept going in those games despite being afraid. That's courage. Don't be a douche. I was answering the thread question.
Sure, but really? Resident Evil 4? Really? That's about as scary as house of the dead.

I thought it was frightening when I ran out of ammo in all my guns fighting a monster that would constantly regenerate its limbs and, much to my despair, can actually move faster without its legs.
It builds suspense when you can hear their raspy breathing somewhere down the hallway. You ready your shotgun only to discover that you're seriously depleted from fighting the previous regenerator. Besides those dogs with tentacles coming out of their faces, they're the only things that scared me in that game.
