If ZP ended I wouldn't have any reason to continue here myself. There are plenty of other sites to get gaming news.

I think the Escapist could survive without any of these but Zero Punctuation would probably be the biggest loss. A lot of people only pay attention to the game reviews unfortunately. I would personally feel a greater loss if Extra Credits was gone though.

Zero Punctuation is how the rest of the internets knows of the escapist. I found out about it by typing in "Videogame forum website" on google, and it of coarse came up with this place, which is awesome.

I don't really think that there is any one show with which escapist couldn't "stay popular". Even Zero Punctuation could end, BUT for that to work, there would need to be a new equally big show to compensate the loss of it.

Escapist would be in big trouble if ZP would be pulled NOW without any transition ready, but if something else interesting were available, pretty much every single show could be pulled.

So, as so often the significant question isn't so much the "if" but instead the "how".

For me, 3 regular slots really make this site;

Zero Punctuation (obviously)
Extra Credits
Lisa Foyles' Top 5

But I check out most of what gets posted.

ZP by far.

Extra credit is pretty good, but it has one fatal, if petty flaw- I cannot stand the narrator's voice. I dunno what it is. I'm sure he's a nice guy in real life. But in the EC reviews his voice sounds sandy, like its a couple notes off of nails on chalkboard. Its probably all in my head, but since it won't go away I guess it doesn't matter why =(

I'm pretty sure almost half of the visitors to the Escapist are only here for Yahtzee.

That said, I think the best series ever to appear on this site is Doomsday Arcade.

Seriously, where the hell is my Doomsday Arcade DVD?

I picked ZP because it introduced me to the site (thanks G4) but Extra Credits is up there also, hell i liked it before it became an escapist Hit (used to be on screwattack). Lets just say i was very surprised to see Daniel Floyd on the escapist.

Zero Punctuation brought me here, same as 90% of most people on this site.
I LOVED Apocalypse Lane, and was sad it ended. Need something else from the same guys, that shit was hilarious.

Haha you're funny. As if the answer is anything other than Zero Punctuation.

Actually that's not being fair. It's true that ZP boosted the registered user count and made The Escapist as popular as it is, but it's been long enough now that if Yahtzee decided tomorrow that he wanted to spend the rest of his life hand-crafting Silent Hill 2 plushies and quit releasing reviews The Escapist would be fine.

ZP isn't as much of a tentpole feature of the site as it used to be. I watch Extra Credits and Escape to the Movies, and read both Critical Miss and Name Game, so I would still be visiting the site on all days of the week even if there wasn't a new 5-minute dick joke airing every Wednesday.

This is the most unanimously decided thread I have ever seen.

It's for good reason. Zero Punctuation IS the escapist. There is a lot of other great content (Extra Credits is my personal favorite) but I have a hard time envisioning the site without Yahtzee.

I wouldn't say the Escapist wouldn't survive without Zero Punctuation, but it's the only reason I started coming here.
