I really don't care one way or the other about them. If other people want to wear them, that's their business. The most recent jeans I bought are "more skinny" than my old ones, but that's only because I lost weight and look kind of silly in stuff that's too big/loose now, and they're not actually skinny jeans. I wouldn't wear them myself, mostly because I'm not comfortable in stuff that's too tight.
The only potential problem I have with them is if it makes it hard for me to find ones I like. I hate it every time pre-worn/frayed or even ripped jeans come back into style, because it makes shopping for jeans such a pain in the ass. I'm fine with wearing worn and well-broken in jeans, but only if I did it myself over time. I don't like shopping for clothes in the first place, so I want to get stuff that'll last a while, not that's already frayed and will start falling apart in a few months. At least that's not so much of an issue with skinny vs. loose, unless they're so skinny they rip when you bend over or so loose they keep getting caught on stuff.
