Here's a notion, Topic creator.

Mod communities have something Notch doesn't.

Freedom.
You see, a modder can make a flying pig with dragon wings mod, and some people will find it AWESOME and whine why Notch didn't implement this. People who dislike this can just skip the Mod.
Notch can't afford that freedom.
If Notch implements something it's in the main game, it's not optional.
He has to balance new ideas with the vision he has for minecraft.

As for the argument that Minecraft would have been dead if it wasn't for the mods.
Been playing since Alpha and only have the Simple Texture pack installed.

No mods for me, thank you.

He has the right to make the game any way he wants. I have the right to stop playing it.
Dont like it dont play it. I highly doubt notch is monitring everyone and using his money to hire hitmen to kill people who leave.

Is pathatic people seem to ignore the fact the mod community only exists cuase of notch. Its as if people played halo, made forge maps then bithed becuase bungie amde less of them.

MC players truely are the most self entitled people I have ever seen. So much bitching, be glad you got what you did and be glad he isnt making dlc and charging you for it.
Man, Strong Bad would have a field day with you. First I'd like to correct all the spelling and grammar mistakes in your post.

It's pathetic, people seem to ignore the fact the mod community only exists cause of Notch. It's as if people played halo, made forge maps then bitched because bungie made less of them.

MC players truly are the most self-entitled people I have ever seen. So much bitching, be glad you got what you did and be glad he isnt making dlc and charging you for it.
It's not self-entitlement to pay for a game, and expect a game out of it. I gave $10, the company gives me a game, that is the basis of ownership; I kind of AM entitled to a game. (That is, a working game that is maintained sanely, without auto-update breaking itself) People who buy a game and somehow can't run it, then complain? Justified. People buy a game with a certain promise in mind (double multiplayer perks!) that simply isn't true, and complain? Justified. People who buy a game with online DRM that all too often just doesn't work, and complain? Justified.

People complain when a company provides poor service that they paid for. Renaming it "whining" doesn't make it any more wrong.

And there are other indie games I play that come out with paid DLC all the time. Most of them, I'm fine with. They don't auto-update their own game with game-breaking bugs.

How many modders are there, and how many people work at Mojang, do you think?

Exactly.

Just as Dannibal said, you are acting like a prick with an unreasonable sense of entitlement. This is why we can't have nice things. He's just a person, and he just got back from a vacation. Yes, that's right, he's been on VACATION. Also, as good as the "better than wolves" mod is, it's just so up in your face about "how lame the wolf update was". Also, he has to keep the bigger picture in mind, he's developing the vanilla game, he can't just add something because he wants it, he has to consider what would actually be more or less be fun for everyone. He can't just say "I want to have flying alien paper maché robots that can shoot lasers in the game", it has to fit with the bigger picture that is Minecraft.
Seconded...

Minecraft is a work in progress and we shouldn't be saying the lead developer needs to step down simply because the game didn't spring into being fully developed. Besides, putting aside intellectual rights, if we kick out the lead developer of such a tiny development team it is going to slow the progress down even more! How is kicking Notch from his project going to better it in any way?

Now that being said, there is a lot of things he could do with some of the great mods that are being released: Bring the mod development team on board. Sure it is a small company with limited resources, but already these mod teams are working for free. Many would gladly join up with Notch for nothing more then their name on the project and a tiny amount of royalties when it does get released. So why not bring more minds into the mix to speed up the process?

Hell, some of the mods are just reinstalling things he had in the game but removed prior, due to some timing issues that look as if they have been resolved. Many are just the addition of additional types of blocks and recipes, such as furniture, which are aesthetic additions at best. Such mods will only add to the game. A lot of the mods that I have seen, via Yogscast mostly, have been in line with the overall objectives that Notch has put forth and he should be using these mods to his advantage.

So why not hire some of the mod teams that made this stuff and incorporate into the full version of the game?
That's actually something he's planning to do.

Notch: "Hey guys, I just created a random weather generator, with snow and lightning and even charged creepers! Oh, I added wolves too."

Everyone's response: "OMFG NOTCH MO'S CREATURES ALREADY HAS WOLVES YOU'RE SO LAZY!"

Notch: "Hey guys, I have this huge amount of bug fixes, trap doors, shears, and improved pistons!"

Everyone's response: "OMFG NOTCH SOMEONE ALREADY MADE PISTONS YOU'RE SO LAZY!"

Notch: "Hey guys, the Adventure update's looking great! Better dungeons, improved combat, more farming options, an increased sky limit, and NPC villages!"

Everyone's response: "OMFG NOTCH MILLENAIRE ALREADY MADE NPC VILLAGES YOU'RE SO LAZY!"

I'm sick of hearing it. He does multiple, professional additions to his game (with a team with less than ten people a part of it), and he suddenly gets a shitstorm because ONE part of his update was already done by one other person in the community. And even though the version he did was more professional, usually less buggy and didn't break the way you're supposed to play Minecraft, people are saying he's lazy.

if all we have is mods to add into the game, minecraft will eventually keep bugging out and breaking because of mod clashes. if Notch adds the mods into the vanilla game, as well as adding extra stuff HE came up with, the game gets better and mods stop crashing. and seriously, bringing up the 1.6 crashes? i downloaded 1.6 a couple of hours after the release and it had already been triple-patched. and why are people complaining that Notch is adding mods? its a massive ***** to reinstall EVERY mod every time theres a patch.
and i hate the BTW mod. Elevators require a massive redstone system just to get it to bloody move, even though you could use ladders (theyre faster and use less material) cement is uncontrollable and its easier to use brick (you can use it for floors thats it), the waterwheels hardly ever turn, the axles break whenever it rains (seriously wtf is that, i had mine covered with wood and they still bloody break), lights turning on and off are pointless, theres a reason the light is always on: so you can see.
and useless ideas? i saw a mod for bloody chandeliers. you can use torches.
