No, because nowadays everybody plays video games. I guess plenty of girls (not being sexist or anything) think they're silly or immature. I like to point out to them that thinking worse of somebody in order to bolster your own ego is pretty much the most immature thing ever.
Ya but girls also don't appreciate my dick jokes so I just assume it's a difference in taste.
Girls also think they look good in enormous sunglasses.
What they don't realise is that dick jokes are a comedy staple. They were basically the earliest jokes. Dick jokes are an integral part of human culture and the evolution of humour.

I could go on but this just comes up way to often for me on forums I have literally got ridiculously bored of it.

I honestly believe that all men would be gay if they could tolerate making love to a penis just enough that they are able to do the deed.

Yeah, I have been insulted by many people whenever I mention that I'd rather play a video game than watch sports. But words (to me) are basically piles of nonsense sounds. And there are very few instances when those nonsense sounds actually mean something to me. As for physically treated different, I've had no problems at all.

There is no stigma anymore. Games are very much a mainstream form of entertainment. Everybody plays games these days. It's the fourth pillar of mass-media pop entertainment, along with movies, television and music.
Where do you live? Can I come and live there?

Seriously, when I mention video games as a serious hobby, people stop asking me things about how I live my life and typecast me as an ignorant man-child with more rolls than a bakery.
Yeah, this basically sums up everywhere I've lived.

Honestly, it seems like it's the type of games you play that cause ridicule. No one will think differently of me for playing Halo or Call of Duty, but as soon as I mention Shin Megami Tensei, I'm a freak.

I got called a freak because I said that I couldn't be bothered to play rugby because I was playing Mass Effect.

That was interesting.
That sort of comment always cracks me up. Somehow Mass Effect, which is a fantasy environment where you slaughter aliens and shag sexy women is freakish or even 'gay', but a contrived environment where you grapple with half naked sweaty men is somehow more 'manly'. Enjoy your group shower boys, I've got a zombie horde to wipe out.

My relatives take every single chance they get to insult me because of my hobby, taking as many shots as they can, and I'm in a can't win situation becuase if I don't say anything, they go "See, he knows I'm right." and if I try to defend my love of gaming, they say "Oh my! Gaming has made you so rude!"

In summer it's even worse, because i play more when I'm not with my friends. They say gaming is all I do, I just ask "Do you see anyone else outside? Have you seen the temperature?"
Even when I had a temporary job, when I got home, they said I do nothing but play the game. When they get back from work, they usually just sit and watch TV. All I'm doing is using the TV in a different way.

The big thing about this is everyone who does this is much older than I am. Even people in their mid 20s to early 30s don't give me as much crap, because they most likely have either played or still do play games.

For me, sports hold absolutely no value. What will I be doing during the world cup final? Probably playing Monster Hunter Tri or Team Fortress 2. It will be just another day.

Not really, but I still don't advertise i play PC most of the time for some reason. Maybe with my group of friends they still view the PC as this mysterious system and are always confused on how my laptop can play l4d2. I'm not sure though, just a wild guess.

What I don't get is that people who play sports give me crap for gaming, saying "It gives no real contribution to the world."
How does sports 'contribute' to the world more than games?

Not really, but then I don't go around telling everyone that I'm a gamer...

But my coworkers ask me for advice on new games...

I have also seen the benefits of being a gamer. When I was doing the road test at the DMV, my instructor was a gamer and a Star Wars fan. We talked about gaming and Star Wars the whole time and he didn't even see how bad of a driver I was.

I agree with you completely. For example, unlike video games, football players and the like are paid more in a week than most people are in a year. So much of this money could be better spent, whereas the always stable gaming industry helps to keep major economies alive.

Sports generate billions of dollars each year and give third worlders something to do.

The sports goods industry forces millions of young third world children into child slavery in sweatshops.

Sports do not 'generate' money, they merely move it around while producing nothing that can even be remotely regarded as growing the economy. Of course, the same can be said for any entertainment, including video games, but at least games aren't produced by and for morons, mostly. The obsession with sport is a sign of a civilisation in decline imo.

I pretty much stigmatise sports nuts in the same way they stigmatise us nerds. Fair's fair.

Professional athletes get paid the amounts they do because they entertain millions of people. Just because you aren't a sports fan it doesn't mean it's a waste of money.

Usually it's the people who don't play CoD that are the generic math-equation-loving nerds. video games are not really tailored exclusively towards nerds anymore. (and I mean nerd in a non-derogatory way, of course.)
