I usually eat something I've seen drop on the floor, depending on what's physically on it, rather than how long it's been there.

I go with the "I can't see anything wonky on it" rule. If it looks OK I'll eat it.

I seem to remember the Mythbusters busting the 5-second rule, but I like letting my stomach acid work for its rent.

they probably did but again this is just more of a psychological thing. like nobody picks food up slowly, even if they know the time passed doesnt matter much
