I'm just excited to see an influx of w+m1 enemy pyros I can school.

I honestly don't think it's a big deal I've sat through my share of free weekends and while I'll admit that after the update last night the servers I frequent were over run by 11 year olds spouting racial slurs I still love TF2 and they won't change my mind on that.

I bought TF2 for $20 a couple years ago and I got over 800 hours played in those years... I'm fairly certain I got my value out of the game.

Hang on, I don't think that I got that hat for the older, players. Oh well, I'm still going to keep playing, because in all honesty, what are the greifers going to do? play as a spy? I hope they like the pyro. I'm not too worried about the asshats.

EDIT: never mind, i just fail at finding out if i've got hats, dealt with it now

That.
As a soon-to-be-new player, I don't really care for how the game was.
I find the point of "more noobs who piss everyone off" quite empty since they existed and always will exist everywhere.

Now, I will go shoot some cartoons.

Hold on:

What's stopping me from multi-accounting cheaply? by that I mean I can get more drops/week
Yeah, but every drop would be stuck on the account that found it. You can only receive items if you're a free member. So in order to farm like you've described, you'd have to buy a few items in the store for every character you make, THEN farm the items. If you do that, Valve doesn't give a shit how many characters you make, you gave them money for the privilege.

And before you get any ideas about trolling with your tons of accounts, remember that this is Valve, and they've thought of that. They're looking for people doing that and you'll most likely get the Banhammer for it. Not worth it, IMO.
Yeah but.. it's like a dollar instead of the $20 or whatever it would have cost before

I was going to answer "You're overreacting", but after reading your post and your sense of entitlement over "newbies" playing the game: "Go die in a fire"...

I might be the only person on the internet who's glad TF2 is free. I just started instaling it earlier. I can't wait to start playing.
You are not. Now I can show my friends the awesomeness of TF2...

Give me a bit to warm up! I haven't even finished downloading it yet and I've never played before.
Start playing as a Medic and follow your teammates. That is an good way to get the feeling of the game, check the layout of the maps and learn the ropes.
Or use the Soldier, its the most standard/easier to use class...

Please, Valve is well aware of the danger of people trying to exploit the new free account system. It might take a little bit for them to get it down but if you hadn't noticed they're pretty good at supporting the game.

Besides, I fail to see how the new players will any more annoying than the people who've been complaining and whining and bitching with every single update how A or B ruined the game.

Now, every server is crammed with hundreds of people who, in all likelihood, have no interest whatsoever in the game. Most times, when you get a new player, they want to get better, want to get good at the game, want to actually do something with themselves. When a game is free to play, however, a time dreaded by most who already own it, this is when the absolute assclowns and griefers come out to play. They don't care about doing well or getting better, they didn't pay a cent, they just want to ruin it for everyone else. What do they care? They didn't pay for it.
Just because a game is free doesn't mean all the new people who join will be jerks and griefers. Me and my friend have both wanted to get TF2 for some time now but neither of us have had the cash. Now that its free we actually have a chance to play and enjoy the game. Why would I go around griefing because I didn't pay for it? People don't download games for the sole purpose of annoying other players, that doesn't even make any sense. Quake Live is free-to-play and I hardly ever see griefers in it. Regardless of whether a game is free to play or not, people get it to play and enjoy it, not run around tea-bagging random crates and do other idiotic things.

I'm not sure why people claim the updates keep the game alive. Games like CS 1.6, Source, TFC and quake3 haven't seen many updates in a very long time. They are all still played by dedicated members. The TF2 updates somewhat ruined the original intentions of TF2s balance. The game has changed a lot for the worse, and people seem to think free updates always= good.

More people being able to play is a good thing.

Why wouldn't it be? Do you hate people or something? It's a multiplayer game. People are good.

This good sir is why you play it on the 360. I love my mouse and keyboard as much as the next guy, but once the items started coming out TF2 was dead to me.
what!? tf2 is shit on the xbox! theres no servers, none of the community maps.. also who the fuck cares about hats? it doesn't reall break the ballance of the game anyways..
Actually the game has quite a dedicated community. I can find well pinged games late into the night. Even was playing a full game at 5 AM. So the community quite alive. The no updates is the appeal of it tbh.

If you didn't think there were trolls and griefers in TF2 before, you're a naive fool. Look at console gaming, you have plenty of people there who have no problem whatsoever being assholes in a game they paid $60 for, do you honestly think a $20 barrier for entry stopped anyone from griefing? And before anyone jumps on me about there being no comparison between console and PC games, 1) Stop being such an elitist prick, and 2) I seem to recall a number of articles about there being a lot of griefers in L4D on the PC, I'm pretty sure that wasn't free either.

your kind of overeacting but yea they should have given the paying players more content (like wepons and items not just one hat and definitly not the same one) but to start hating TF2 for it is overeacting...
also more players isnt neceserily worst...

I welcome the addition of new players. The more fodder for my bullets, the better. This will add plenty of griefers or obnoxious jerks. But for every few of them, there will be several great additions to the community. The reason why Team Fortress 2 was successful was not because of the hats, well not 100% of it anyways, but rather the community. I bought the game back in 2007 and kept playing till now. Though I take breaks from the game quite often, the community was brought me back. If I have to take several jerks in order to strength the community, then so be it.

The way I see it, the servers that only had 10 or so people on them that would be better with more are going to get a lot more fun and a lot more full. Sure some of those people might be there to grief, but I doubt it would be so many that they couldn't just easily be banned by the admin.
That and now might be a could time for me to tell a friend of mine to get Steam and it's starting to get a lot easier for people with low budgets to be PC Gamers.

Valve gets some potential future customers for their other games and in game items, and I get more people to play with and a larger community that will take longer to die out. I like it.

Same here, I take the occasional break from it, but other shooters anger me with the communities and I always end up coming back. TF2 has always had really friendly people compared to most games, since the nature of the game is so goofy.
