"Corrupt politician" is redundant. ba-zing!

Oh and you do know that jetpacks exist(not super cool Boba Fett jetpacks, but that wouldn't work anyway), flying exists (and not just airplanes), and we've been to the moon.

What does the banks want with Greece, really? What do they gain?
The banks want their money back which Greece spend it on paid vacations, unions, corrupted governments, etc. Greece has been borrowing money from the banks for a long time because they destroyed all the wealth and producer creators in their country. No one is making money in Greece and when their monthly bills came and couldn't be pay. They cry that life isn't fair.

In my entire life I do not believe I have bought any product that is made from Greece. How many Americans have bought a product that is made in Greece? How many Europeans bought products that is made in Greece?
But you see that is the fault of Greece being a terribly run country not some shaddowy dues ex style conspiracy. All the banks are are one of many parties being dragged down by the whirlpool.

As a German, I long lost sympathy for Greece. I was always of the opinion that Greece, or rather, the people in Greece deserved our help.

But then, I took a look at what the people of Greece had to say, and I can say all sympathy I had has vanished. Portraying our politicians as right wing radicals? Calling us nazis? Calling Angela Merkel, that old bulldog, the female version of Hitler?

Yeah, you know what? Lets see how you fair on your own. Probably better, but thats beside the point.

Saying the recession is Germany and Frances fault is pure bullshit too. What would you have us do? Not work for lower pay, not work plain to a higher standard than other countries so they can catch up? Fat chance.

things like jetpacks, flying and going to the moon would be just a hint of what we could accomplish. we can never do that until we are free from this lifestyle.
Bullshit. Capitalism has always been best at accelerating technological progress through competition. Sure, the progress doesnt always get where its needed, but its there, and it wouldnt be in a different system.

They would be shooting themselves in the foot in the long run. Our whole system in the EU is based on consumerism. If the people have no money, they cannot consume. If no one can consume, everything grinds to a halt, and that hurts everyone, from the lowliest hobo to the fattest CEO sooner or later.
Funny thing I'm in a college class called international relations and our teach is convinced that the EU is(and I quote)"doing what Hitler could not, allowing Germany to take over Europe". He was serious.

I know being American German doesn't mean much but I was pretty insulted by that comment, I mean its been over 50yrs, let it go.

This [http://satwcomic.com/bully-fail] comic strip also comes to mind.

I would like that too. Mind you, i think on the short run it would be worse to greek and germany (and actually all the world), but boy would it be fun to watch.

Has it? Most of the big technological advancement of the century started their development during either WW I or WW II, electronics, computers, aeronautics, the internet, the electrical grid, programing, modern medicine, psychology, just of the top of my head.

Current capitalism seesm, if anything, focused on stopping innovation to try to keep the status quo, copyright and patents the last decades seems focused on that.

About shoting themseleves on the foot, well... nah, or at least not common. If you are a big investment firm and the market goes well, you win, if the market goes bad you will sell high, buy low and win even more in the middle to long run, but they can't see the future you say? Well, thats what inside info is about, and any investement company worth its salt has a good info network. If you are a CEO and the company goes bankrupt, you write your last bonus from managing the company, then you declare the bankruptcy, sure, it might foce you to buy a yatch instead of a jet, so i guess they would get hurt. If you are a hobo, the shelter might close or you might not get enough begging and die of cold in the street as a dog. I do not think the effects are comparable, at all.

Honestly, capitalism suits me fine, the strong/lucky/apt or whatever you want to call it live and prosper, the unlucky sobs die. But... I can't call it anything but a brutal system.

No offence, but I don't think anyone wants to "enslave" greece. Honestly, think about that one for a bit.
Yep, enslavement is sooo 19th century, all that pesky social tension and annoying civil wars. Control through more subtle means works so much better and leands to comparable numbers of economic inequality.

It is 100% the fault of the Greeks. If they actually live within their means than they wouldn't be in this mess. Instead for decades they keep borrowing money from the banks. When they couldn't pay it back they cry it's not their fault. That's bullshit.

What the Greek wants is to keep looting other countries that produce wealth so the can have their long ass vacations and do nothing society. They want to keep stealing from banks to keep their lifestyle intact. Fuck that.

If the Greeks wants food on the table and a roof over their head it is time they work for it.

As much as I sympathise with your situation, I will never forgive the Greeks for how horribly they treated and acted towards Socrates, whom only wanted to converse with the citizens of Greece, whether they were nobles or not. Socrates may have dubbed himself the "Gadfly of Athens" but that didn't make him a criminal.

OT: I hope things improve for both your home country of Romania and for Greece, too. No one deserves to suffer.

There's a lot of ignorance in the OPs comment and a lot of racism in the many of the comments.

It sort of justifies why I'm always at odds with someone or other on this site.

The internet, where anonymous people can chat shit about that which they don't understand.
