Well, in the upcoming DLC for l4d2, [link]http://www.l4d.com/blog/post.php?id=5603[/link], the bit in the middle, a few maps are being ported from l4d1 to l4d2. But then there's not really a reason to continue playing the first one, is there? All the content from one will be in 2. So is the DLC going to be good? or is this just something that makes l4d1 a waste, and l4d2 two games?

What's your opinion about the DLC?
I personally think it's a bit sad for l4d1. It won't be played as much. Even though I think it's better.

Since I only have l4d2 for me it's a great plus! More maps to test with pals, more of the story and what happened in the first. I really don't see this as a problem and if people thought that the first is better then the second they will keep playing the first so it won't have such a terrible influence.

I think that, at this point in time, it is safe to make this move. Left 4 dead 2 has become quite easy to get ($20), and I think the time has come to try to encourage people still in love with the first game to join with the thriving community of the second.

It was nice enough of Valve to wait so long after release to make this move, it has allowed those who only have Left 4 Dead to get the full value out of their game.

I only own L4D, but I don't see a problem here. Really, if anyone is complaining about free DLC they should take a good hard look at themselves.

I'd like to buy L4D2, but I'm in Australia. I refuse to pay for censored material on principle.

Zhukov, I think I would complain if someone were cramming gallons of ice cream down my throat. Just like how many people agree hats and new weapons have ruined TF2's simplicity, having too much DLC, even free DLC, can be a bad thing (heck, just on the basic level it massively increases the game's size, and I know plenty of people who have a bandwidth cap)

I'm still kind of pissed that Valve never gave this kind of support to the first game. I paid a full $50 for it, and I'm still waiting to get that much value from the purchase; WITHOUT buying a sequel.
(for the record, a friend bought me L4D2, so my "boycott" pretty much ended there)

Don't have 1, so I'm happy to get Dead Air, the only campaign I remember liking from playing a free weekend of L4D years ago.

They should port L4D2's campaigns to L4D1. Then people can decide purely on gameplay-merits (melee weapons, more SI), the slight graphical improvements (glowy eyes!) and design changes (Smoker, Tank).

This.. Well.. it was what I had on my mind exactly, although I didn't write it down. It was one of those momentarily things, like "Ooh I wan't to buy chocolate. But then i'd have to go to the store. And ooh! what's that over there?" I say you've earned this cookie:

I play L4D1 more than L4D2 and it will stay that way. Let them port the maps into L4D2, I'll still play them in L4D1.

Ehh... 2 is simply better in my personal estimation. So as far as I am concerned it is the most logical thing to do.

Sure its lame for those who went with 1... but the price on 2 is now reasonable enough to make getting 2 easier.

So yes I support this. Yes its lame for those who do not have it.

I still play the first Left 4 Dead at times. Especially now that I've played No Mercy in L4D2 a few times I can safely say that the lack (or addition) of melee weapons, jockeys, spitters and chargers gives the campaign a very different feel, and well, I just switch between the two depending on mood. Also some custom campaigns (like "I Hate Mountains") are heavily optimised for the first L4D so to enjoy those at their best you'll still need to boot up L4D1.

I don't really care with either one. I'm kind of Neutral on this.

Passing was a bit short and the sacrifice was okay....

except I doubt they'd ever do that. In fact, I didn't expect a cookie (who ever does :p), I expected someone to tell me what an outlandish idea that is
