This question came up in Sociology class...

Yes, we have discussions like this in school...
It depends on what you mean by "voices". If you mean incredibly creepy, soft whispers of a being greater than humanity, who heralds from the void beyond reality, then I regret to inform you I do no- Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn!

Wrote a short story about this once. Oh well.

I know I have a voice that talks inside my head, but it's a stream of thought consciousness thing. It usually is just like me reading aloud but it's only making "noise" in my head.

There's a voice that keeps telling me constantly that I'm losing the game, and it's right every time.
GAH! I HATE YOU! Thanks for making me lose the game too.

No voices. My brain translates everything into pure information. If I want to hear a voice or see a picture, I have to consciously conjure it up.
I don't think I am unique in this. But for some reason I don't meet many people who are the same.
I actually do that too. It takes quite a bit of conscious effort to align my thoughts in such a way that they can be understood by most people. It makes trying to explain things... interesting.

Sometimes they are irrational, sometimes they condemn the way I act, I only listen to them when necessary.

The only voices in my head are the voice of reason, the voice of logic and the voice of voice of flirtatiousness.

So yes to all three of them. =p
I just have the Voice of Flirtatiousness and the Voice of SCIENCE!

He sounds like Death from Discworld.

Well, it's not like my "inner voices" are tempting me to do anything.
It's more like a constant stream of random thoughts that contradict each other and don't make much sense overall. So I honestly don't know what exactly I should listen to.

According to my psychology teachers, everyone hears voices... it's just your conscience. I call it our instincts and yep, I try to listen to them when I can. The instinct/gut is pretty powerful from what I've noticed.

Depends on what they say.

But they´re confusing. One voice tell me to be polite to the asshole who cuts in line and acts like a complete douche, and the other tells me to call him a "******** **** *************"

Guess which one i obey.

Eckhart Tolle - The Power Of Now

focuses very much on this subject alone. As they are thoughts.

The question is: Can you stop thinking completely? Even for a minute

Yes actually. In fact I'll have a full conversation with myself. The voices help me solve alot of problems.

I hear Morgan Freeman and Stephen Fry telling me to do bad, bad things to the evil people... There are evil people all around us... And it is my duty to purge them...
That in conjunction with your avatar is one of the most unnerving things I have ever read on the internet.

(Dial 999..... I can't let you do that Dave...)

[919 for those in the US]

On topic: Yea occasionally, mostly encouraging me to do stupid things on the motorbike. "Its clear open the throttle! You can over take here! get it done *****!"

Mostly its encouragement, regardless of whether what it is encouraging me to do is safe or not.

Well yes, they keep me company when i'm alone, but lately they've got me thinking the worst about people i care about, probably because i'm in the process of developing a social life and they don't like that very much.

But usually they make my thoughts carry a third dimension, sorta like turning a conversation between two people into a 3-4 way discussion about the topic, except in my brain.

And then there's my crazy fantasy daydream world, and that gets pretty fucked up in there.

All the voices show express their opinions verablly, I talk to myself. Therefore I don't hear voices in my head. But the ones on the out side are mostly my personality, so it doesn't really make a difference if I listen to them :)

I talk back to them. They usually threaten to beat me up and I end up begging them not to...So... Although there are those other times we have insightful conversations into my inner workings and what not...But then after we're done they get back to threatening me.

I can't help but listen to them, they all sound like Morgan Freeman.
Same here, except mine sound like Liam Neeson.
Mine alternate between Adam West and Sean Connery.
