As a tanned-in-the-leather Ranger, I'd have to say that they're more Warrior/Thief hybrid than just straight warriors. A crossbow from the shadows, a well placed trap, and nothing stands between me and my objective.

played all three archetypes. Except i almost always start off as the Rogue/thief archetype.

Same with Skyrim.

i love having to put the extra thought into being a stealthy thief. Being able to take out a whole base of enemies without a single alarm raised is its own amazing reward. To hold a bow or a sniper rifle and pick of all your enemies from a mile away...
I just love having to strategize and feeling like such a badass that I hardly need to fight to take out all my enemies.

no matter what i will always have some magic, but usually its mostly mage with a hint of warrior, or a theif who uses magic to avoid detection or for help in a jam

but a wizard, a wizard can manipulate time and space itself!
I just LOVE backstabbing Mages, especially in Baldur's Gate. If your backstab does enough damage, they explode. Like seriously, the screen shakes, a high-pitched slash emanates from the back of the unfortunate sorcerer, and the whole room gets decorated with their viscera.

I can't tell you how satisfying that is.
As a mage, ANYTHING I kill blows up hilariously and/or catches on fire. And what sort of mage doesn't have no detection spells up. Anyway. Thieves are always my second choice, because yes, backstabbing is super satisfying.
Cloak of Non-Detection says hi :3

EDIT: Seems like the Wizard is catching up to the Thief.
Hahahah, touche sir, touche. But I don't need no fancy cloak to blow shit up.

Mostly the wizard but with a high amount of thief and a large helping of archery from the warrior.

I'm a fan of rogues: combat thieves.

Sometimes I like to mix in a little magic if its an option (for example in D&D terms a few wizard or sorcerer levels for things like the jump / spider climb spells).

the replies to the poll are actually incredibly well balanced. I always like to play warriors, because in my world, magic is for pansies and i like my enemy to see the guy who's about to cave in their cranium with a giant battleaxe

Depends on the game for me.
I quite often enjoy mages, but for some reason in torchlight I found the "Alchemist" class not as fun as the Hunter or whatever it was called.

Usually I go with the caster, or the one with bows.

In WoW my first ever character was a Tauren Hunter, which I found really fun to play thanks to the pets.

But the one I played the most was actually a Paladin.

I tend not to play a healer in MMOs I usually stick with a Tank/DPS.

Warrior. Ecspecially one that moves like lightning and hits hard, even if that means low health. Moving fast and ripping through swarms of enemies like a knife through butter is always the best way to go, although I will admit if I have to I will pick off the mages through attacking them when they least expect it. Basically I use stealth to get te jump on mages where I will make sure they can't get a single spell in.

I play as everything pretty much equally, but usually my highest level character on anything tends to be a warrior, even though i generally find sneaking and using magic to be a lot more fun. It's just how it ahppens, warriors tend to have a lot more things that can level up so they end up being really high levels quickly.

I like em all actually.
In WoW, I played a feral druid, which is primarily stealth (thief), does awesome damage and can take big hits (warrior), and can still cast heals and damaging spells (wizard). I tried other classes as well, but they were never as fun as my feral.

If I HAD to pick one, I'd probably go with the Warrior, particularly the Paladin. Why? Because the Warrior is the one archetype that can hold it's own in just about any situation. The Wizard is too squishy at times and has to rely on their mana, and the Thief cannot always be completely stealthy or get the drop on their opponent.
Besides, I'll never have as much fun in a game as I had with my smiterdin :3

I like to play the Warrior because I love collecting all the heaviest armour and biggest weapons. I always think the warrior looks the coolest too

I tend to play as the warrior or thief first. I like to use bladed weapons.

I'm definitely a wizard guy. I love the glass cannon concept. Most rpgs I always end up some form of magic user.
