The movie is fantastic, and the book is even better. If you're a person that regularly buys DVDs, then yeah, it's a good one (although I would personally never buy a movie I hadn't seen).
I'm the opposite

I'd almost never buy a movie I HAD seen.

Part of the value in buying a movie is watching it for the first time.

That being said, I generally know the kinds of movies I'll like, and I'm not overly picky, so I rarely have a problem of buying movies that I don't like, even without seeing them first.

I watched Watchmen twice- Once before reading the novel, once after. I vastly enjoyed it the first time more so than the second time. That being said, it is still worth multiple watches- There are still hidden parts that aren't seen.

But don't read the graphic novel, at least not before watching it.

Its up to you, buy it if you really enjoyed the movie.

I'm going to buy the director's cut myself.

shall I?

P.S
i have not read the graphic novel
You should get it for the simple reason that you've never seen anything like it in a movie before, ever.

1. read the graphic novel, its amazing
2. You might want to rent this version. Theres going to be a special edition of the movie (i believe some sort of deluxe directors cut) where they merge the Tales of the Black Freiter, into the movie itself.
3. The movie is really good, not as good as the novel, but still very excellent.

P.S. sorry for the bad grammar.

Read the novel first :)

And while we're on the subject. Does anybody know if the directors cut edition (with all the bonus scenes/black freighter) comes out on DVD? I can only find it for BluRay :S

if you are a fan of the comics, yes buy it. if not, rent it first. if you havent read the comics the movie is boring and completely uninterresting.

It's not coming out on DVD in the UK, at least not yet. I guess Warner Bros. are waiting to see how the standard edition sells before they take that risk. You're either going to have to import the Blu-ray DC (as it's region free I think), wait a indefinite length of time or just buy both when they come out.

I didn't like it very well, if you are a fan of the series (which sounds like you arent) then it is great, if you arent a fan, then it's more Meh. It had unnessasary blood and gore, same with the sex sceens.
Hey, I wasn't a fan of the series and I absolutely loved the movie.

I can honestly say that Watchmen is one of my favorite movies. I loved the plot, each character got a great deal of development and the fight scenes were great. The thing I loved most was that it showed the gritty, real side of being a superhero. I'd buy it.
the only "Superhero" in Watchmen is Dr Manhattan. Everyone else is a "Masked Vigilante"
Dr Manhatten and the Comedian.
I hope that's sarcasm O_O .

Bullshit. I haven't read the comics and I thought the movie was absolutely brilliant. Maybe the director's cut was so good it made the rest of the movie go from boreing to brilliant, but I doubt it.

.
Why wouldn't they have done that with the first director's cut?

PS: I don't read for entertainment (It's so much easier for my mind to comprehend shit when it's in motion, and It just bores me.)
