Yes, it is a great game. For 5$. I just bought it. My physical copy doesn't like me. Thanks for bringing my attention to it!
It's not developers... It's how the books were, it's how the author tends to write his settings, he did it with Witcher and plenty of other stories he wrote.Agayek said:Second, it's aggressively juvenile. It's clear that the developers were trying to make it grimdark and all that, but failed. My biggest problem in that regard (and the reason I couldn't get more than 20 hours into it) is that it takes a completely ridiculous and juvenile approach to sex. Basically, a rule of thumb in the game is if it has tits, it will try to fuck you. For no reason whatsoever. Then you get a little card memorializing the deed.
If you like that way of doing things, all the more power to you, but I got sick of the juvenile power fantasy relatively quickly.
I'm not offended by it at all. I just got tired of the juvenile power fantasy inherent in the thing. Literally every single woman in the game wants to, and usually does, have sex with Geralt. It's a perfect example of wish-fulfillment for 13 year old boys.Keava said:It's not developers... The world sure seems to be prude these days in the west, in Poland no one was offended by it, and frankly, medieval settings are supposed to be like that... Seriously sexuality in middle ages was not exactly all about sir Knight kneeling before fair Lady, especially when it comes to smaller villages and simple thugs.
If you think Witcher was 'immature' be happy you haven't read Sapkowski's other series about Hussite wars...
Actually the developers were trying to keep to the source material as closely as possible, and in that regards they did a pretty good job (even if the end result is somewhat comical by our standards). It's european origins do make it quite distinct, and I get the feeling not everything translated over perfectly. I'm assuming the language barrier, with the English language's limited ways of expressing motion, may have meddled with some of the more intimate dialogue.Agayek said:Second, it's aggressively juvenile.
