Pretty much what the title says. What kind of oppression you particulary dislike? Why would you be against brutal authoritarian dictatorship? What is your reason for joining La Resistance?

The point of this thread is to remind people - freedom is your biggest and most overlooked treasure. Well, except, maybe, your life.

Now that sounds like my kind of place.

Oh, and it's "Fascism", with an "s" and a "c".

SCAM we all know about your rumoured potency, as embellished as it is, but some of us aren't so lucky

I forgot how exactly to type it. English isn't my first language. Thanks for showing correct way.

I argued against my entire English class about how living in the Brave New World world would rule. There would be no bad feelings if you were specifically designed to love what you do. Someone has to clean the toilets, might as well enjoy it.

The last option is kind of pointless because that is whats happening to us right now (in a metaphorical sense of course).

For some reason quoting isn't working for me, but yes actually, I found Mustapha Mond to be the most interesting character. I liked how you could pick up on his innate belief in the system, yet his clear education as to the reality of the system. Yet neither of these things clash. And I loved the analogies between Christianity and 'Fordism'.

"All of the above" is a bit of a copout, wouldn't you say?

If I had to choose one of them, I'd say infinite war, cos that shit'd affect everyone eventually, especially with nuclear weapons and suchforth.

Fascism at every corner.

We already live in a world of eternal war. I know it's not wuite what you mean but if I remember rightly there's been less than an hours 'world' peace since the end of World War 2.

Similarly we pretty much live in a Big Brother society already, almost everything your ever do from birth till death can be traced. Luckily people still react very badly to finding out such information is being abused, as long as that keeps up we'll be fine.

A world where Twilight is rightfully considered to be the apex of human understanding and achievement is pretty damn scary.

All of the above... except cyberpunk of course, which would be kind of interesting... but it wasn't technically "above", so... right.
