Why would I replace a relatively new laptop that fulfills all my needs as a student just so I could play high-end games on it? I don't know how expensive laptops are where you're from, but getting one decent enough to handle games is way more expensive than whatever price the PS4 is going to come out as, and getting a new laptop would mean $800 was wasted on this one.
If you paid $800 for a notebook that can't play games at any setting they saw you coming a mile away, you got ripped off.
I was going to remark on that too. I got my laptop 3 years ago, and I spent $750 on it and it still runs Borderlands 2. Not well mind you, but the settings can be turned down low enough that the frame rate is playable, while the textures aren't mud. I'd hope a new laptop of the same price point could do something similar.

Been an Xbox fan since day one in 2001. And even I am having a tough time figuring out just what the hell MS is thinking.

I'd still prefer your poll have a "waiting to see some actual games" option.

PC gamer here, what reason would I or anyone else have to get one of those damn things.... It's ludicrous
Well, you need to know it will be twice as powerful as any dedicated gamer PC even years from now. It will have every strong point of PCs without any of the weak ones...

Yeah, I can't go on like that. I also have a PC and I intend to use that one rather than a new Xbox. I doubt I'll see any exclusives that makes me buy it and because of that I will keep using my PC, my Wii U and maybe get a PS4 if there's some good games coming.

I was contemplating getting one a year or two after launch to see how it fared, but I'm really not interested. And really, the reason I'm not interested doesn't have much to do with the presentation, although it didn't help. The main reason is my first Xbox 360 RROD'd two years ago, and I went back to PC Gaming, which was my preferred platform for years. I liked having a console so I could sit on the couch and play a game, but hell, I can hook my computer up to my TV now anyway, and with the Xbox controller compatible with my computer for certain games, such as driving heavy or third person games, I see no real need to go back. And I really just don't feel comfortable using a controller for FPS games. I'm fine at them, I just don't like the need for aim compensating, I want that kill to be mine. Not the computer helping me when I got close to the shot.

Plus, if something goes wrong with my PC I can usually fix it. If I feel the need to upgrade it, I can do so easily.

This generation I had an Xbox 360. Overall I didn't enjoy it enough to make me want to buy the next one without some serious incentive. But everything they pushed on the console was just about everything I hate in games. I don't watch TV, I don't watch movies through my Xbox, I don't play multi-player, I grew tired of Call of Duty, I dislike sports games, the novelty of motion games wore off long ago, I hate the idea of talking to my console, and I didn't even play Halo 4. So for now, I'm out.

I also agree that calling it 'Xbone' just sounds lame and childish. It's about as funny and clever as the Pee-Station 4 or Wee Wee U.

I was going to (eventually) get one, because exclusives and stuff.

Now, however, I'm...seriously turned off on the idea, exclusives or not.

And I spent about a grand on my rig almost two years ago. It still runs Last Light on the Very High settings with nary a hiccup. I haven't bothered with the DX11, since it's really not much of a difference in terms of visual quality. It still eats up everything I throw at it and will most likely continue to for another couple years.

Therefore, PC gaming will suffice for the foreseeable future.

PC gamer here, and no, I probably wouldn't want it even if it was given to me free.

I mean, come on! The only objective reason why one could prefer consoles for PC was the ease of access and simplicity they provided, and now Microsoft is practically turning their console into a voice- and motion-controlled PC that also needs a separate TV and a constant 24/7 internet connection? It's just silly.

Where did I say join the hate band wagon? I just said "convince you it probably won't be worth it." I don't care if you hate it or not, I just want it to be clear that this has serious negative repercussions for the game industry as a whole. You also did state that you did not know how the used games would work. I provided the most up to date source I could find; if you already knew this article, why say you did not know? The article does have a solid logical base, and retailers are cited as the source so it has more than enough support to hold up.

I did not like a single thing shown in the presser, and was genuinely turned off with some of the draconian systems they're trying to implement. My opinion was low of the Xbox 360, and the Xbone is even lower.

That said, to re-phrase a famous Carville quote... "It's about the games, stupid!" If MS can really pull off a good 4-5 great core titles in their line up of "15 exclusives in the first year," and assuming no release delays, (which is always a risk when talking about launch titles) then it's pretty likely that I, and many other gamers will go out and purchase the console.

I am a console gamer, as having a gaming PC just isn't feasible in my current living situation.
You know, there's these things they call laptops. They're really good...
I have a laptop. It's not high-end enough to handle gaming.
Well then use the money you would normally use for buying consoles to buy a more powerful laptop.

I don't see what's not to get here. >.>
If they are so affordable then I am sure you will buy one for all of us then. How gracious of you! Put me down for one of the newer Alienwares. I want to go LAN parties carrying nothing more than what can fit in a brief case. I want to play X-Com while riding on the BART train with my hat on backwards and a massive chip on my soldiers. I will never have to eat again because I will feed off the hate tossed my way from dirt poor scrubs that have to wait to go home to do some serious gaming. Come on, make my dreams come true. Don't be a cheap-scape!

Laptops in my mind are like macs. If you're looking purely at specs, you're basically paying money just for the privilege of owning it. I used to own a laptop which I gamed on, then I sold it for half what I bought it for about 2 years on, and used that money plus a bit more to buy a brand new gaming PC that was about twice as good.

They simply arent worth it, and n the future I see laptops dying completely as tablets become more powerful.

OT: Microsoft has really dug themselves into a hole with this console, theyve basically completely given away all their competitive edge with the 360 and have swapped places with Sony for this generation, its like someone swapped their CEO's brains around.

I won't get it but I don't see what people are complaining about.
All PC gaming arguments used to be 'We can do all this stuff and play games with better graphics for only $800 extra'.
Now microsoft decided to ruin that by adding all that stuff to Xbox. Essentially its 'Better graphics for an extra $800' vs not playing used games.
Microsoft technically took a step that PC gamers should appreciate for consoles, they just didn't take into account actual reason doesn't factor in platform choice.

Said it before I'll say it again... The mass opinion doesn't sway me. I take the Buddhist monk stance of "We'll see", meaning I will wait and see what the truth is, how it affects me or not and what games come out in the first year of release. Just like every other console.

Where is the 'Im on the fence and will stay there until I see a finished product' option?

Do people really make all their decisions without a finished product on the shelves?

I'll wait until the console is finally released and lowered to a reasonable price before I pass any judgement on it. By then, it would've been enough time for Microsoft to sort their situation out (Considering how much flack they're getting).
