Edit - Oh yeah, Angular Mike, YTOTW and Featureless white Jeremy are made of win. So that gets my vote.
YTOTW! God I loved that. I read through the whole thing again recently, and it's just great. The ending makes me laugh every time I think about it. "The end...? Yes."
I've never been quite sure whether or not I'm a fan of YTOTW and the rest - as webcomics go, they're pretty poor, but there's a strange attraction I can't deny.
Personally, once he gets bored with ZP (and I think that's far more likely than the Escapist pulling the plug) I'd like to see him go more into games design: his games are actually awesome. The Art of Theft has some of THE best stealth gameplay I've ever encountered, and any of his adventure games prove hands-down the guy can write a seriously kick ass story. Personally I say give him a team of programmers and watch him make one of the greatest games of the age. Then again, I am a really big fan of his. And when I say 'fan' I mean 'stalker'.

I'm a big fan of Zero Punctuation, in that I watch it for pleasure fairly often (I never miss a new review and often re-watch old ones). I don't actually watch it looking for a good review, however; Yahtzee not only seems to look for completely different things to what I want from a game (he seems to prefer innovation over quality - witness his Psychonauts and No More Heroes review, and for that matter his stance on Half Life 2 (and yes, I'm aware that it's a good game; I just think it's more 'innovative' than it is 'good')), but he's occasionally inconsistent, or at least his experiences of some games have been radically different to mine.

That said, he's very funny and I look forward to whatever he's going to review this week. (I haven't voted in the poll because none of the options seem to suit me).

I like his brand of humour. It's unique. One thing i hate however is the cheap ripoff's that you see floating round you tube. Originality is a precious comodity

I love his Zero Punctuation reviews and have watched every one of them multiple times. I'm a sucker for Point & Click adventures, and his Trilby series has been lauded as some of the best AGS-games around. He seems to like the same things in games as I do, with the exception that I love long dialogue, as long as it's well-written. So yes, I think I can say I like the guy.

The fact that he contradicts his own criticisms constantly within that review is also a factor, yes. That and his supposed reaction to Super Smash Bros Brawl seemingly just criticizing its whole point, as well as saying its bad because it sticks to the conventions of a fighter. All I know is that after looking at that online Hyper thing I lost a lot of respect. In hindsight, it probably was that.
What was his reaction to super smash bros brawl? In fact how has he even played it?

Do you vote for political leaders based on looks too? ^^

I find him consistently funny enough to keep coming back. This is despite the fact he mostly hates RPGs while I love them. He's made obvious his own bias for "smart, clever adventure games" pretty obvious. I think it's a bit hypocritical, but I don't think he could be funny WITHOUT being a bit hypocritical.

Hmmm... I don't know whether to laugh at this thread or what. I think the poll questions are kinda ridiculous. People either like Yahtzee or they don't, you either find his reviews entertaining or you don't, but why should anyone care about what another thinks of them? Polls like this are kinda sad and discussion about reviewers and game developers as if they were a deity is much more sad. Just enjoy the reviews, and if not, don't watch them. No need to go into great detail about how Yahtzee's ZP's are the revelation you were looking for in your life because you couldn't take a proper bowel movement before the invention of the ZP.

I'm sure Yahtzee is embarrassed enough as it is when he does read these kinds of threads knowing that a lot of his fans (not all, but A LOT) are mindless, double digit IQ drones, lacking in culture and living vicariously through his ZP's... although he probably did appreciate the fact that people enjoyed his particular brand at first. Worst of all, half the people that watch ZP's probably watch them to hear him swear, while the few enjoy his wit, albeit rapier like wit and sharp delivery.

I respect how his popularity grew in such a short time, but I really don't envy him since I'm sure he receives many more idiotic emails that he never would have expected or dreamed of.

Perhaps this poll isn't totally useless after all, although one of the poll answers should be: I feel very sorry for Yahtzee because now he has to deal with more dumb-asses than he imagined existed.

I think that the poll speaks for itself- 90% of people like Yahtzee. For once in my life I find myself in a majority, which is unusual. Mind, the ol' chap combines both foul-mouthed humour that somewhat reminds me of billy Connonley (a bit, but yahtzee ain't got shit on Connoley) and decent insight into games. I personally think his habit of speaking his mind at any point AND being unafraid to be a hypocrite (fuck, we're all hypocrites, and those who say they aren't are liars as well) AND an utter refusal to submit to any kind of logical/numerical system of game ranking is excellent- its human. he reviews a game, swears at it a lot, tells you his opinion of it and then leaves you to make up your own motherfucking mind. he admits he's biased, and fallible, (though he does shit on those who point tis out ot him) and thus, in short, has won a soupcon of a smidgeon of my respect. whichis a hard thing to do, too.

i love his work! he's got one of those voices which will go down in history, along w/ master chief lol. he sounds incredibly sexy! and although i dont agree with some of his reviews, he does have supportive evidence to back it up. he's always making me think things through again. which is what great speakers/reviewers do.

Looking at him weith tthe hat really made me lose all respect for him. The man looks like a chimp.
Really, it was his appreance that put you off him? Surely that couldn't have been the deciding factor in your opinion.

And his writing isn't all that bad.
No, it was really the straw that broke the camels back. Its hard to take the opinion of someone who looks like that seriously.
Your joking....right. Its pretty shallow deciding to dislike someones writing because of their appearance. But judging by your other posts I think the true reason might be because he gave Uncharted a bad review.
The fact that he contradicts his own criticisms constantly within that review is also a factor, yes. That and his supposed reaction to Super Smash Bros Brawl seemingly just criticizing its whole point, as well as saying its bad because it sticks to the conventions of a fighter. You dislike him cause he won't like Smash Brothers? Dude, I love Brawl, one of my favorite games, and I cant wait for him to review it and give it the boot. It's just not his cup of tea, that's all. For me at least, I come in for the humor, nothing else.

I like Yahtzee's work, and ZP is a welcome part of my week.

That said, I am disappointed at the number of people who've decided to switch their brains off and just puke back whatever ZP tells them about games. Seriously, it's the man's personal opinion adjusted for comedic effect, not burning bush material; you don't get a Get Out of Hell Free card by parroting it back, verbatim, when discussing titles. However much I like ZP, I disagree with its conclusions a lot of the time; Yahtzee's taste in games is not mine.

I'm not asking that folks stop watching ZP; I'm just asking that they don't stop thinking for themselves.

For me, he is a source of regular amusement. He does not actually apply opinions into me because I judge games as I play them, and I don't care for someone telling me how to think. Not that I don't notice his opinions, just I find him more funny than informative.

In short, I say he's a comedian, not a reveiwer.

Until they censored his swearing, I didn't even notice he swore that much. Still, I must agree a lot of his fans seem to be mildly retarded. I think it seems to be that way because the mildly retarded fans are the most vocal ones.

But then again, if you're an obsessive adoring fan of someone I can't help but get the feeling being slightly retarded is a requirement.

Maybe it's just me, but I listen to his reviews because he's on point with the pros and cons of the game. The humor is just a bonus for me, like finding a $20 bill in your favorite pants. So getting used to his style doesn't make the reviews any less enjoyable. Also, that remark about how his looks were the "last straw"...that's just flamboyantly retarded. You probably disliked his reviews to begin with but couldn't think of an actual reason to justify your dislike.

Yahtzee is a pretentious overbearing prick. But that is exactly why I love ZP. He is the sole reason I read this site and all and I readily admit that.

I do adore Yahtzee's reviews. His tastes are similar to mine, but more importantly, he's a good writer. The adventure games he's made are works of genius, hands down, and reading the stuff on his site really gives an appeciation for story presentation.

He just did a short story called Trilby and the Ghost and the whole thing is wonderfully brilliant--I was actually surprised at how simple a concept could be made so entertaining.

He's not perfect, but who is? He is, however, extremely talented, and I think he'll go far. I almost picked the first option, but I honestly haven't read everything on his site. There's just too much. I did like his screenplay for a mock Silent Hill movie/play.

I think Yahzee's reviews are okay, but I've never gone out and bought a game by his say-so. My brother on the other hand went out and bought No More Heroes because Yahzee recommended it. And the only reason I haven't bought any games he's recommended is because I don't own a Wii and my PC is almost obsolete.
