So if you own a doll, then why is it so beyond the realm of all possibility that we like a show about ponies?

I mean, really? Is it really just utterly and completely beyond you people?

It isn't. It's just that I don't like MLP and people are suggesting it makes me less of a man. So I'm pointing out the irony.

It appears I have misunderstood your attacks on the show calling it stuff like "pony shit for 6 year old girls" and "nothing more stereotypical to girls than ponies" leading you to call people who enjoy it "tragically ironic, faux-lectual posers" for an attack on the show and people who like it.

Also anyone who owns a doll and enjoys animes are clearly mentally inferior to the rest of the world.

I'm not really hating on people who own dolls and enjoy anime, I'm just pointing out irony somehow.

I don't think anyone sugguested that you were less of a man for not liking MLP. They were simpling arguing against the common insult against bronies of "You like a little girls show? You are now less of a man for doing so."

Fair enough, however you DID invite that attack on yourself by pulling the "stupid pony shit meant for 6 year old girls" line. You MUST understand the immediate defensive response to that kind of insult is to throw down with some pseudo-psychological horse shit. You may not have technically started that back and forth, but forum goers aren't to particular when it comes to finishing fights.

Seriously though, I think it was all a bit of satire gone wrong that started this whole thing. You obviously don't have anything wrong with the MLP fanbase or show, you just aren't interested in the show. That is respectable. I just think you and some others got caught up trying to out-smart each other with satire.

Alternate blindingly-obvious hypothesis: people like it because it's cleverly-written and well-conceived.

The show is a great example of what good cartoons should be - it's a decent show with good morals and humour for kids (the slapstick timing is often so good as to be pretty funny for adults too) and has a lot of parody, self-reference, and wit for adults. In fact, most of the humour is relatively subtle for kids. Further, any time the show does pull something somewhat juvenile or silly, it tends to do it with a wink and a nod (often, one character will make some quip about the situation that would fly right over the head of the average kid).

The insistence that the popularity of the show must just be some sort of meme is starting to get silly. It's just a good cartoon. One of the only such good cartoons we've seen in a while.

Anyway, I like animes, and I don't really like MLP, but I can understand why some people would like MLP (of all age groups and genders not just little girls). I can also understand why it could help your confidence of your masculinity. But I don't like how you said that because I like anime, that I'm not comfortable with my masculinity? I'm pretty confindent about exactly who I am, and you say that because I don't like MLP, im not a man? Isn't that pretty much the same as saying that I'm not a man FOR liking MLP? You need to learn from MLP in all ways of being friendly =D

I also cannot understand people's hate against the show and people who like it. Get over it. You don't have to watch it, you don't have to click these threads, you don' have to watch the show. So just stop being so negative and embrace the friendship =D
