....so I just recently read a thread on here about rage quitters and it got me thinking about my main reason for rage-quitting games, which is "griefers". For some reason people just get bored sometimes and decide to be massive douchebags and harass and make the game less fun for you, just because its funny for them. But this thread isn't about how much I hate 'em, its about how much fun I've had turning the tables on them numerous times.

For example, recently I was playing RDR with my brother who had just gotten it and we were in free roam (in our own posse). We were minding our own business and doing hunting challenges when some random player (whose gamertag I will shorten to "Brosnon") came running up and shot my brother off his horse and stole it, and when I went to avenge him the guy shot me down too. We respawned and gave chase, eventually catching up and gunning down the thief. We rode off and continued our business thinking that was it, but sure enough a few minutes later he starts taking potshots at us with a sniper rifle from the top of a cliff. My brother and I wondered what the hell this guy's problem was and tried to tell him to knock it off over our headsets, he didn't respond and kept shooting and throwing dynamite down at us. So with no other options, we fired back and killed him again.

At which point we decided to fast-travel to mexico and get away from this guy. However as soon as we got there, he fast traveled as well right to where we were. So this went on for several more kills, we would kill him he would respawn and chase after us again. Eventually we holed up in a ruined house outside of Chuparosa and waited for the bastard to inevitably find us again. And sure enough he came barreling down the road and had recruited another player to his cause, they were riding in a stagecoach and were coming right at us guns blazing. So I lit a stick of dynamite, threw it under the stagecoach and blew it sky-high, sending Brosnon and his friend flying to the ground. And before they could recover, my brother put two bullets right in their heads and we left for a new free roam. We both laughed and wondered just what the hell that guy's problem had been and how relieved we were to have gotten the last laugh.

Since then, (and in that game especially) I have run into many griefers and have tried to always make sure that I get the last laugh somehow.

So fellow escapist's I ask you, what is your favorite story of revenge on a griefer (in any game)?

the more detailed the better. :)

I grief them back... and then I ban them.

It's funny the next day, getting an email saying "you knifed a guy 25times last night as he spawned, what did he do to make you so angry?"

It takes a lot to make me upset, but when it happens I am a nasty mod.

That actually sounds kind of fun, but I assume it loses its charm when you want to do other things in the game. I don't play online so I don't have any stories :(. I picture myself being a griefer though >.>.

Clearly, I don't multiplay often enough.

Still, wet blankets are to be discarded, nothing more.

TF2's the only game where I've ever encountered griefing. I stick around for the lulz or join a different server if I'm feeling srs.

A guy shot my horse on Multiplayer Free Roam on Red Dead, so I tracked him halfway across New Austin and shot his horse whilst he was riding, promptly ejecting him into a ravine.
I wouldn't have minded so much, but I was on Friendly Free Roam and had just spawned. What did I do to deserve such cold-blooded equicide?

Anyway, after that I just wandered around a bit, and he left me alone. So all's well that ends well.

Oh. and another one was when I joined a random server on Garry's Mod and began to build. A couple of dickhead admins came up, microphone voices laden with cockiness, and started deleting and destroying my stuff. So I spawned a fuck load of items, sent them as high as I could, and stuck them in mid air. They threw grenades to dislodge them. So I scattered them far and wide across the sky. They then spent at least ten minutes hunting around the map for my miscellaneous floating stock. After the last one was deleted, one of them said something akin to the following: "Who's the big man now?"

To which I replied (via text, I don't like speaking to strangers online): "Well you just spent ten minutes hunting down a stranger's stuff with shit all to show for it, so why don't you tell me?" Then I left and went on a friend's server. Fun times.

Hey whoa.

You aren't supposed to shoot other players in free roam? Although half the time connection issues dump me in a lonely world without any other players, so I don't play it online much.

what exactly constitutes 'griefer'? Because I consider teabagging kinda the same thing. It's childish, pointless and strictly there to piss you off. I usually ignore it until the person does stupid things to further push my buttons (SC4: after hitting repeatedly and teabagging)

upon which point I pound the person into the dust if possible. If not I just kinda..stand there. Best way to take the fun out of a game is to not play it. :3

Well, in MAG, when I got team-killed by the same guy twice, I sat behind the spawn and shot him in the head every time he spawned for about..... 15 minutes?

He finally sent me an angry message and rage quitted.
