They need to address the clones. Ganondorf is far too cool to just have slower Captain Falcon moves, I like Toon Link as an idea but I wouldn't mind differentiating his specials more (along the lines of what they did with Mario and Luigi). Same deal with Ness and Lucas. The Fox/Falco/Wolf deal makes me furious. Just switch Wolf with Krystal wielding a stick and give Falco a new special and an arwing super smash or something, but don't put three variations of the same damn character. We don't need to encourage the "Fox, no items, final destination" crowd

Either Falco or Wolf, preferably Falco. 3 very similar characters is really pushing things. At least Wolf enough differences.

Edit: I was just going to say R.O.B. is awesome but I realized...wouldn't it be fucking cool to give Master Hand a second form? Master Hand...to Power Glove. Admit it, that would be 'so bad'.
I love the power glove

OT: There should be an option where you could switch between different cloned characters, like press a button and turn Lucario into Mewtwo, that sort of thing, and then add more new characters of course

I wouldn't mind seeing Lucario getting the boot. Although they're most likely going to get rid of Snake and Sonic (as disappointing as that is).

Why'd they even put jigglypuff ns the games to begin with? I know she has her defenders but honestly I forget she's even in the game usually because I never ever pick her.
You're missing out, and removing her would be a crime against this series.

But yeah, swap Lucario for Mewtwo. Stupid blue dog... I don't know him from my childhood!
A thousand times this.
While I agree, we have to factor in that we are not making up the entire target market any more... kids who grew up with the post Gold/Silver roster as the main 'mon probably see Lucario as a more central pokemon figure than us first gen pokemon folks.... So as far as sales go Lucario might make more sense than Mewtwo

I'm not a fan of clones, and I think that "similar" characters should be mixed up a bit to be different. I'm somewhat comfortable with the differance between Mario and Luigi, but the Star Fox characters or Lucas and Ness are still too similar for my tastes. Likewise direct clones that just have different speeds/hitting power should be axed before anything else. However the best case scenerio is not to axe anything but just expand the roster. Sure it increases the production budget and what not, but it would be nice nonetheless.

You know what wouldn't be a bad game? A Smash Bro's style platform fighter with Pokemon...

All of them.

Long live mewtwo, with your slower movement, shorter range and worse move pool. just making it clear I actually do want lucario to be replaced with mewtwo.

Why not both? Have Mewtwo be a heavy and Lucario be a medium. Mewtwo did play differently than Lucario in key areas, such as basic attack range and jump and recovery ability. I'd say they were different enough to be like Captain Falcon and Ganondorf, or Mario and Luigi.

Can they bring Back Roy? screw Marth, I hate him. Ike is okay but still kinda meh since him and Link are somewhat the same.

Also, can they drop all the clones? I know that could end up being like half the roster but I find it dumb that they have Fox, Falco AND Wolf when their movesets are all the same it just depends on what you want more of (speed or power)

ONE MORE THING! Isaac for Smash Bros U!

Jigglypuff is a SSB staple at this point. Lucario is still more fun that Mewtwo, and ROB is just an awesome little guy to have around.

And you will rot before I let you take Toon Link away. Toon Link and Skyward Sword Link, anyone?

Friggin' nostalgiahounds raging over Mewtwo and Lucario....

OT: Can't really think of any characters to cut. I would cut Wolf, honestly. But that's just me. Three landmasters is too many.

If I could change Toon Link, I would make him his little adorable cel-shaded self. The Wii U tech can handle that.

I just want Link. I'm fine with them taking others out and putting different ones in. The Star Fox characters were probably my least favorite since they all were so similar.

Why would you remove Jigglypuff? She is a staple of the game that has been in since the first game. You don't remove something like that. No real reason to remove ROB. Toon Link... meh his move set is different enough that I'm fine with him. Lucario should be removed for Mewtwo, but I don't think they will.

EDIT- Your poll options stink. Just putting up characters you don't like doesn't mean they are the one that should go.

That's an awful small list of characters to get the axe. I think rather than axe the "clones" they should do more to differentiate them like they did fox and falco (they were the same character in melee) and try to use less known games to draw upon for the new smash bros.

Don't remove Characters, that is stupid. Just bring back all the old characters and give them unique move sets, also do that with the clones.

Of the characters from the poll... I'd say Lucario. Not because I hate him or anything (I actually like him), I just think that he's mostly a mascot for the fourth gen. I could see him being replaced with Zoroark, or perhaps Mewtwo to cater to the nostalgia crowd. But I somewhat doubt Lucario's getting another go in SSB.

Also, to everyone who thinks that Sonic and Snake won't be coming back... I think you're wrong. Nintendo and Sega still seem to be on good terms, considering they're STILL making those crappy Olympics mini-game collections. And Sega is nothing if not willing to whore out Sonic for a buck. And considering he's a fan-favorite, I see no reason for him to not return.

And as long as Hideo Kojima has any say in the matter, Snake will probably return as well.

I'd drop young Link purely because I think Link should have the ability to switch between the two ages (ocarina of time perhaps), much like how Zelda can transform into Sheik during battle.
