Poll: This Gaming Generations Degradation

I really don't understand how people can say that games are getting worse over time. Maybe they're just overly nostalgic. But really, games twenty years ago had little to no story; no voice acting; little to no emotional draw or immersion; far inferior graphics; etc etc.

Now don't get me wrong, I'm not saying these games are bad- I grew up playing them as well- but, quite frankly, they don't compare. It's like rating silent movies beside modern day films. The difference is almost laughable.

There were bad games then, there are bad games now.

On the flip side, good games then, good games now.

I see no drop in quality.

Doesn't everybody say the past was better? Old people have been saying that the new genration is made up entirely of miscreants since ancient Rome. It's not worse, it's different, and humans inherantly hate different.

I like this gen of systems better than last gen, mostly because I try to ignore the Wii. But overall, this gen has been pretty good. Dragon Age, Borderlands, Oblivion, Fallout 3, Mirrors Edge, The Orange Box, Gears of War, Arkham Asylum, etc.

So, this gen has been pretty good, if not better than previous gens. Sue me.
