I am thinking that flying off the handle is really the wrong response completely.
If she is a virgin, she may be wanting to give something a try before hand so she has some idea what to expect. She could have lots of fear and anxiety about it although I wonder why she wouldn't share that with you considering that she went and bought a dildo.

Has it occoured to you to talk to her about it? She mightn't feel ready, abc there is nothing wrong with that. Is she abstaining from all sexual contact, or just coitus? Actually, are you male or female?
