We punch kangaroos for sport. Orb Weavers are nothing. Any bird that gets caught by one deserves to be spiderfood.

The other day, my cat brought a live brown snake into my house. Incredibly venomous, incredibly dangerous, but that didn't stop me throwing the thing out again with my bare hands. That's the kind of shit we do down here.

Australia isn't THAT bad. Its sorta like mexico. Stay in the resorts and coastline areas and you'll be fine. just don't wander into the center or these types of things will come out of the metaphorical framework.

Holy shit I would have gone insane if that was my backyard.

Seriously how the hell could they live around there knowing that THAT is around? It could possibly bite a person there sometime in the future...

I don't think they should kill the spider either, but something must be done for their people's safety.

But, seriously, even though I wanted to go to Australia, all these deadly insects are one of the things holding me back.
You are never gonna get attacked by that spider unless you piss it off. And Australia has alot more deadly reptiles than insects. Like most of the top 10 most dangerous snakes live in Australia.

Oh it has the most dumbest video gaming restrictions due to one backwards state governor.

Why do you think that Australia has the largest capacity for the production of chemical weapons in the world?
Also this is a very rare case. Most of the big spiders you see are huntsmen, which are the size of plates but harmless unless you have allergies.

...when I visit I'm buying a flamethrower. Or at least a can of hairspray and a bbq lighter.

As I say to most bugs; BURN THEM!

*shudder*

If you want some arachno-fun go to google image search, type "spider australia" and you get some great stuff.

http://images.google.com.au/images?hl=en&safe=off&client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla:en-GB:eek:fficial&hs=npO&q=spider%20australia&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=N&tab=wi

Page forward through that link a few times. Much entertainment.

Lol Australia isn't as bad as it sounds. Sure we have almost every creature in any respectable "Top 10 most deadly" list, but the chances of you ever seeing one are virtually nil. That said, it's kinda freaky when u consider that we have the most venomous snake and the most dangerous sharks (not to mention sting rays).

I don't think we have anything on South America though. They have dinner plate sized spiders that drop out of trees on top of you while shrieking!

Ha, I live in Australia, trust me, you very very rarely see spiders. Truth is we make too much noise and scare them. Last 2 spiders I saw were huntsmen, non-venemous spiders (Though intimidating because their legspan is bigger than your hand), but when I was reading in bed and I saw one 30cm from my face, I did do the whole "OSHIT GET OUT OF BED WTF WTF" thing. But yeah, that was like 3 years ago.

Orb weavers ARE our bug zappers. Huntsmen are our fly spray.

Americans are scared of everything. Quick! A war on terrifying arachnids!

Yes, well, speaking as a native I have to admit that it's web is really strong, and you really don't want to run into it, but then, they aren't the worst spiders around and their webs are a nice golden colour so I've always considered them kind of... Nice.

Besides, they're definitely not the most dangerous things in Australia. Not by a long shot.

I live there and I agree. We also have venomous snakes, fish and plants a plenty!
