I love death metal.

I also practice the vocals that go with it.

I think alot of folks view the vocals in a more conventional setting then their actual purpose in the music: to convey a tone rather than bring across a full message. The gutteral rasps, growls and shrieks Follow a much more percussive style than melodic, as well.

I can sing conventionally, as well but I have a passion for that vocal style. It's fun, feels good and is a great way to keep in shape(the projection from the diaphragm often forces you to flex your abdominal muscles).

People, while mocking me, will often try to pass it off as trivial and easy. I actually want some of you to try it. You might find that it takes far more skill than you might anticipate.

anywho, I apologize for any bad grammar, at the moment. I'm rather sleepy.

I like some death metal. Usually for me to like them I have to be able to understand the words they are screaming. Anyone heard of Wintersun, they have one album but its amazing.

I can't exactly say I understand what distincts one sub-genre from another these days, to say something is death metal and then something that sounds quite similer to be, i dont know, punk metal or something confuses me, the main issue with this being the sub-genres like 'emo' and 'punk' even though those too sound almost the same to me.

So in conclution, the last bit just me being finiky, I listen to bands such as Trivium, Slipknot, Children of Bodom etc.. And if they class as death metal than yay for me, I like death metal.

I love death metal. Well, I love technical death, and melodic death. Not so much the "normal" death metal stuff.

Bands like, Meshuggah, Necrophagist, In Flames, Vital Remains (which I know is Blackened Death, but those kind of specifics piss me off), and Capharnaum to list a few.

Let's see. Any idiot with half a brain and knows two notes on a guitar and can just scream can make death metal. So yeah, I think that portrays my feelings on that subject.

The only band I give any credit to is Mudvayne, but that is because they actually have a little thing called talent.
No... just... no. Mudvayne is NOT death metal, at all. It's like, mainstream nu-metal, and most people in death metal are far more talented than ANY member of Mudvayne.

Ok Here goes. I Love Death Metal, I also Love Screamo and Metalcore and Metal and Quite a bit of NuMetal I don't really mind , The only Stuff I don't Like is, I dunno what you would class it as, See ; Annotations of An Autopsy http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NRnUMDSHtH4.
It's just kinda the "BREE BREE BREE BREEEEEE " Puts me off, He sounds like he's Inward Pig Squeling The whole way through.

Anyways My question is , Does anyone who's not a Death Meatal/Screamo Vocalist Actually Like the Sound??

I Was sitting at my Computer Growling "My one Desire, My Only WIsh Is to be EEEEAAATTEEEEENNN!!!" Practising Pitch and Power etc. And then looking at the comments I just thought
" Oh :/ "
It doesn't really seem like theres much point practising and Learning this stuff if nobody Likes it, or at Least Respects it for it's Skill,:/ [I mean I'm still going to , it's one of the few things I'm good at ]

So yeah, does anyone actually Like the way Death Metal/Screamo Sounds???

I love death metal. The vocal style doesn't bother me, the instrumental element are generally superb, despite what people on this thread who apparently have either never listened to death metal or didn't actually listen to it, but just assumed it fitted their preconceived idea of what death metal was.

Its amazing how wide the range of different sounds are even within the genre and subgenres, too. Even just within technical death metal, Necrophagist and Cryptopsy sound very different, and neither of them sound like, say Decapitated or Beneath The Massacre.

On their new album, they've gotten better. Seriously, it sounds like a totally different band, and it's a VAST improvement.

If we're going to include Melo-Death Metal, Hell yes, it's awesome. If not, I can enjoy it but I will not put on the music myself.

Love it, mostly into melo-death. It used to be my fave genre until I discovered tech/progressive/math/experimental metal. <3

I`m more of a thrasher myself. But some death bands , particularly the crossover ones are really quite good , still beats the hell out of black metal though that seriously is nothing but noise , what annoys me even more are the BM bands who try to pass it off as artistic , but then again i hate anything that`s terrible and tries to pass itself off as being art

Much like screamo, I like the instrumental part, but the vocals are just... indescribable, and often indecipherable. (For me, anyway.) I much prefer being able to discern what they're singing.

Though I'm sure someone around her can point me to a band or song that is classified as death metal, but would not fit into that generalization.

I don't like death metal it sounds like noise and screaming, with a admittedly good guitar solos. Though it doesn't mean I won't listen to it though.

However I do love Melodic Death metal, Amon Amarth happen to be one of my favorite bands, and lets not forget those fictional Gods Dethklok \m/.

I think the general song crafting in melodic death metal bands are far superior, without loosing any of the agression. In fact I find it even adds emotion to the songs, listen to Hero, Arson or The Endless Ocean by Amon Amarth and you will see what I mean.
