I've always wanted to visit Sweden, and Finland too. The country looks stunning and everything about the Scandanavian culture is intriguing to me. Oh and you guys have some of the most righteous metal bands :).

Swedish people are real cool people- from what Ive experience theyre a little withdrawn, but generally theyve been cool out.

And Swedish is a feckin hard language... aw man
Hard? I beg to differ. It's not a hard language, even the Swedes can learn it! (sorry, someone had to do it)

Swedes are alright, most of my cousins are Swedish and I love them very much. And I live right on the friggin' border as well and speak Swedish and I visit Kiruna every now and then since my aunt lives there.

The girls are not that pretty though. :| (My cousins rule though cos they're Finnish/Swedish hybrids XD)

It's my home country. Our winter lasts from November to April, and our movies generally suck. Other than that, there ain't much to complain about, could be a lot worse.

edit: I also get the picture that Swedes (and Scandinavians in general) are much better at English than the rest of Europe. Courtesy of not dubbing movies and/or games.
Well, our movies suck in general, but we do have masterpieces aswell.
Ever heard of Ingemar Bergman or Roy Andersson? You should check them out.

Is it finland or Norway what has a part of it that is Swedish speaking?!

Edit : im and idiot... norweigiens (or however its spelt) speak swedish... and the fins don't, they speak Hungarian, so the Swedish speaking area im talking about is in northern Finland...

On a side note I might be going to Tromso for Easter

My grandpa's from Sweden and I still have some family there so I guess it's a cool place. I also got the awesome blond hair genes from that side of the family too, so I guess I'll thank Sweden for that.

To be honest there's a LOT of things I don't like about the way our culture is structured, or our laws, and society. If I could, I'd change most of everything. While there are aspects I like, friendly people, sometimes, most everyone I've met has been very immature, and lacking in self-discipline, self-knowledge and an inability to take responsability for their own actions, and percieve the correlation between cause and effect, in more advanced ways than is thaught in physics.

Having said that though, I suspect this isn't unique for Sweden, and I heard someone say once "If you were born anywhere on the planet, at any time between now and the dawn of humanity, how likely is it to be better?" Keeping that in mind I'd say I'm lucky, I'm not a patriot in any sense of the word, and as much as I may dislike how most everything works here, I'd dislike it more almost anywhere else.

When it comes to the people though, I believe that people are still people, no matter where they were born, or where they live. I don't believe people in Sweden are nicer, better or, for that matter, dumber, than people anywhere else in the world, so regarding that I won't say anything.

Actually Swedish is Finland's second language, we are bilingual so we speak Finnish and Swedish. This island in Finland, called Ahvenanmaa (I don't know what it's called in English -_-'), speaks Swedish only. People in Norway speak Norwegian, it's similar to Swedish but it isn't the same language. :)

We don't speak Hungarian, it's only a part of the Finnish language family. ^^

But yeah, Tromsø is a place worth visitng! I've been there a few times and the place is lovely, and the people speak really good English there.

I've never met any Swedes... well my step mom is Swedish but from the US so it doesn't really count.

However, I know Sweden is a nice country, you have good music, and on top of all that we never hear about you. This leads me to conclude you have your shit generally together and your heads out of your ass, which is more than I can say for the US.

Plus I hear that the Swedish military is properly funded so they have a military with better equipment than the USA. Shame you don't see much Swedish equipment around, the Gripen and stealth boats.
Our (the US) problem certainly isn't funding, but where it is going. We have the biggest military bugdet in the world, all the most advanced doo dads, and somehow the soldiers always get put last in line. Fucking stupid if you ask me.

Well I got inspired by "Thoughts on Britain" and was wondering what people know & think about the country Sweden and it's people.
Sweden is well on its way to becoming a failed state.
How are we becoming a failed state?
