The average game? Less than 50 hours. Definitely.

An amazing game that I love? Well over 400 for all of them.

Over 7000 hours in Disgaea 2.[footnote]My goodness, I can make a signature![/footnote]

That game is more addicting than crack and WoW put together.
Looks like I have some catching up to do.

I didn't vote in this poll because you used the word typically, and my play time varies greatly from game to game. For example I've logged well over 300 hours in both Pokemon Soul Silver and Pokemon Black, probably somewhere around 600 in Final Fantasy X-2 (don't know the exact number because I deleted my first save accidentally) and a similar amount of time for Final Fantasy X. But I've only put like 100 in Saints Row 2 and 3, a bit less than that in Dead Space etc...

What I'm trying to say is, I can log an insane amount of time in a single player game, but only some keep me playing that long. I don't just decide that I'm going to play every single player game I have for an arbitrary amount of time.

Edit: And in some games it is just hard to judge. I couldn't even begin to guess how much time I've played Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic for over my dozen plus play throughs, for instance.

Depends on the game, I usually just finish a game and never look at it again, so about 8->15 hours on most, but in open world games (Oblivion, Fallout 3 and soon Skyrim) I spend like 60+ hours (I've spend like 100 on oblivion due to mods and stuff). Even with multiplayer I don't spend much time on most games (I spend like 20 mins each time I play, making it like 20 hours max), but with games I really like or replayable games I can spend ages. So yeah...

I had well over 500 DAYS logged on my WoW account before I Sold it. Of course I have a new one now and I'm dividing my time between that and Old Republic

Most games I will play till a beat it or get bored of it. I will usually come back at some point in the future and play them again. So most games would be under 50. However I havea few games that I have played significantly more than that. I have around 50 hours in Mass Effect, DX:HR and KOTOR2 (and probably some other RPGs that I can't remember of the top of my head). Most pokemon games would have something quite a bit more than that. Advance Wars: Dual Strike has a recorded time of 127 hours. Fallout New Vegas has 160. Super Smash Bros. on the N64 (which I used to play constantly when I was young) Probably has some ridiculously high number that I wouldn't want to hazard a guess at.

It depends on if I like the game in question. If I really like a game, it will be over 100 hours. Steam says I have about 150 hours each for both Mass Effects, and almost 130 for Skyrim. Oblivion takes the cake though, got one character with gametime over 400 hours.

I remember playing Sim City 2000, Far Cry, and Starcraft for ages in the ages before "hours played" timers made you depressed at your life.

Generally I only spend 10 hours or so on a game. Some games I do spend ludicrous amounts of time on. Total War, Metal Gear, Mount&Blade, Sonic, Streets of Rage, and Gran Turismo are my most played game series. I honestly beat MGS3 at least 40 times, same with Demon's Souls (only about 5 times on Dark Souls currently).

It changes from game to game, but Id say however long it takes to complete the main story/quest/missions and a handful off side objectives.
But its a rare game that I put more then 30 hours into.

Thousands of hours on Dwarf Fortress, Minecraft, Total War and Civilization games.

Hundreds of hours on Operation Flashpoint, Mount and Blade: Warband, Men of War, Baldur's Gate 2 and SW:KotOR

Bastion was limited to a few hours, but it was very much worth it..

On a side note: Skyrim = 10 hrs or so before I felt like a stupid robot as is the rest of the game world.

Thousands and thousands of hours playing Unreal Tournament 2004. I don't have proof, but I know for a fact that I've spent more time in that game than any other. And I'm still playing it :)

Easily 1000 hours on FFXII. About 6 playthroughs, while doing all the sidequests and hunts and whatever.

I think GTA Vice City and Rome: Total War come very close to that as well.
I thought some people were lying with their "OvAr 1500 hourz pl4yed rawr!@!" numbers. Until, i saw my TF2 number on steam....I can't believe i spent 502 hours on a game i SWEAR i only played 1 or 2 hours a WEEK, tops.

That said...on games NOT created by the Daedric coven that is Valve, About 150 hours is my ceiling--usually on RPGs: ToV, Skyrim, and FFXII.

HINDSIGHT ENTRY: probably 2 thousand hours on a heavy-modded Tribes 2 , i know played the hell outta that waaaay more than i do TF2 now. Im talking 2 years past the official server shutdown date. Shazbot! with all those hours i coulda learned an instrument or another language!

Err...

...

More than two months...

...

World of Warcraft...

Not exactly proud of it. I keep thinking, if I had say, played on German servers, I'd be fucking fluent in German by now. Ah well; least it was fun :)

Otherwise, the limit for an amazing game comes in at around 150 hours, or 40-60 hours for a game I merely liked.

Big difference. Call of Duty 1 and 2 have had me playing over a 1000 hours over the years.

There's also a lot of games that I have spent less than 20 hours with.

Right now, I think a good example is Skyrim. It's on 42 hours now and I'm just messing around. I'm probably not even halfway through the main storyline, I just want to become really strong first; focussing on one-handed weapons, bows, light armor, sneaking and smithing.
