Not particularly. It's not like shooters are the only thing going on in gaming. If you're tired of them, it's your own fault for paying attention to nothing else.
[hyperbole]

Allow me to post 80% of all traditional-media advertising for video games:

"RAAAR LOOK AT OUR SHOOTER IT HAS GUNS IT HAS RUSSIANS/ARABS/RUSSIANS AND ARABS IT HAS AMERICA GETTING ATTACKED AND YOUR UNIT OF BADASS MARINES GET TO SAVE DEMOCRACY FROM THE COMMIES/TERRORISTS ARE YOU EXCITED FOR OUR GAME YET WHY WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THAT XBOX LIVE THING THAT ACTUALLY LOOKS LIKE IT'S GOING TO ADVANCE THE MEDIUM IN MEANINGFUL WAYS WHEN YOU COULD BE PLAYING OUR GAME FOR REAL MEN!!!!"

[/hyperbole]
You still need Xbox Live to play online?
What are you talking about?

No, I'm just tired of military shooters that, to quote the video, "look like a Michael Bay film". I'm still open to play more realistic shooters like Ghost Recon and Rainbow Six.

I'm also waiting for someone to make a proper game where you play as a resistance fighter and get to free occupied territory as you see fit. The Pandemic Studios game Saboteur wasn't bad, but it was really repetitive and very little could be accomplished outside of the main quest missions.
Exactly. I'm tired of all the arcady mainstream bullshit like COD and the like.

Give me more tactical shooters like Bohemia's games (OFP and Arma2), Swat 3/4, Ghost Recon 1 and the old Rainbow 6 games (Raven Shield and earlier)
You know, if you actually went out of your way and looked you would find games that you want.

Perhaps you would like to Red Orchestra 2: Heroes of Stalingrad?

I meant Xbox Live Arcade, but I left out the last bit, so I can see why you're confused...

I know about RO2, but haven't played it yet. Isn't it a mp only type game though ? I haven't heard anything about a campaign in it.

What other games fall into this category ? (you make it sound like there are alot)
I personally don't follow the genre, but my friend Broosy absolutely stands by the RO series, your best bet would be to go on Steam and have a look, the games you mentioned are very good but you'd be hard pressed to find new ones, my message is keep looking, you never know what you'll find.

No I'm not tired of them because I don't play them if I don't want to. No one's forcing me to play them and I've got plenty of good games that I can play.

I played 10 minutes of Medal of Honor 1, wasn't my cup of tea. I'd rather carry an arsenal of weapons and use them as I see fit.

"Oh look a rocket launcher sitting outside an elevator...I wonder if I have to fight a helicopter on the roof..."

Honestly its mostly the pace and the "grittiness" that tires me out of them. Most have a competent story and good technical design, just lack anything creative or original.
Like they came out of a cookie cutter.
Some are good, but there is far more of em out there than i ever want to play.

This thread reminded me of a game I want to make sometime if I ever get to.
Think Die Hard but in space playing as a teenage girl.
You wake up from cryosleep unexpectedly, hearing footsteps. Grabbing a monkey wrench you sneak over to the door, breath held. He walks by, arguing over his radio where to find the control room and something about explosive decompression. Before he gets a chance to turn, you smash him with the wrench- teeth and blood flying off into the walls. Grabbing his radio and a few scribbled notes, you start to figure out what's happening...

Sorry, 2 big name shooter releases = 80% of the ENTIRE industry? Since the fuck when? You do know that "Gaming industry" does not mean "shooter genre" right? The industry as a whole includes all publishers and developers, not just EA and Activision. It includes all genres, not just the damn shooters. Why does 2 military shooters coming out mean the whole industry is making military shooters? Why?

I'm not "tired" by them, I've only had 1 military shooter since the fad began, I got bored with THAT after some months and I haven't bought another one ever since. In short, I'm not bored by military shooters, I'm just not very interested in them anymore.

yes I'm bored of them. I play scifi shooters now, I don't mind when they include future miltiarys because at least then, there is future gadgets and stuff that is fun to play around with. I just lost the... specialness that was in MW1 and 2.

I have three points to make

1:The Gamestop video was a little biased then again it's gamestop

2:Basicly no i enjoy my CoD it's my turn brain off game

3:If you don't like these games pay them no attention

all i'm saying is the genre has sold so much by now constantly complaining seems redundant.

Military shooter is the only genre that I actively avoid. I'm very sick of them and would like to see a surge in a non-violent genre.

The military shooter genre is to a point where it's a very safe investment for developers. However, there are shooters other than military shooters, which is where one will find most of the innovation. Bioshock Infinite and Dishonored look incredibly enticing. I haven't heard any actual details of STALKER 2, but something tells me that the developers have some interesting plans based on what they've done in the past.

Not really, I just don't buy many. I don?t have to buy every military shooter that comes out. There are many other games from different genres that I want at the moment so I?m happy. I don?t really feel that they are drowning the market.

THAT is not a video. That is a JPG.

And no, I'm not. I don't get tired of any genre. I only tire of bad games. Dragon Age 2 & Brink tired me out, but I could play the original Dragon Age or Call of Duty for ages.
